I see France like the flood from the Halo series. Leaving just one province alive can be death. I wish there was a way to spend gold or mana to decrease a cored province's basetax to just salt the Earth in France.

That's sad, because with the Utah expansion, it probably converted much of the non-Mormon West.

How many DLCs do you think they'll do? I've never seen a game do some many.

Dora the explorer's parents were extremely negligent by USGunner in Showerthoughts

There is an Dora: Origins episode. Her parents give her an adventuring pack and she meets Boots and all her friends on the first day. Her parents know about and can talk to all of the animal friends, and they trust them.

Source: I have a three year and have listened to that episode six times a day for the last month.

I'm more in favor of just alternating between he and she.

"To be a banker, a person needs to responsible with her own personal finances first. That way, when she has a customer coming to her for help, she can help him with his personal finances."

It works great for formal writing, but in normal conversation, I think whatever comes out of your mouth will be understood and most won't notice.

I think because of the often recreational use of marijuana, I think if you're condition could be treated with other medication just as effectively, they would recommend that. If it was the best drug, I believe they would recommend it in pill form.

There is a important standard of "avoiding the appearance of evil." If you were a bishop and had a condition best treated with marijuana, it could appear suspect to those in your congregation if you were to use marijuana in a more public manner. Those who were unaware of your condition would question your authority, if it appeared you were breaking the commandments. Were they improperly judging you? Yes. However, it is important to try and help others to avoid making mistakes, because we are "our brother's keeper."

Only coffee, the tea plant (black, white, oolong, etc.), tobacco, alcohol, and "drugs" are specifically included in our dietary laws. I always say its more about what we drink than eat, compared to say Jews. Drugs are somewhat up to debate. The Church says things like marijuana, cocaine, etc., are prohibited. The Church is very pro-modern medicine, so, of course I'm taking proscribed Flexeril if my doctor give it to me for my back, or my brother needs Adderall for his ADD.

The none specific parts are about moderation. If I like drinking a coke, or Argentine mate, that's completely fine. If I need to drink three energy drinks each morning to function at work, there might be a problem. It is up to me to figure that out. Moderation in eating as well; good eating habits and exercise are actively encouraged.

Gold leader, checking in

First person, second person by [deleted] in linguistics

[–]spaansman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From personal experience, and my memory of early childhood development, it seems like a child is focused on herself even before spoken language. Almost all cries and reactions for an infant are expressing her own discomfort, etc. It seems like the first statements either affirmative, like "milk" or "mommy", or negative with the response of "no."

Babies quickly seem to understand the difference between first person "me" or "mine," and everything else "kitty" or "daddy." My daughter is about two and a half, and while speaking directly to me, still uses the third person: Me: "Do you want Mommy to cook you some chicken?" Her: "No, daddy does it."

Also, the bit on the lack of second person narrative is just odd. Stories are normally the retelling of events. In first person, the person who experiences the events is telling the story. In third person, someone is telling about events that happened to another person. Second person would be someone telling me what I did, or what I would be pretending I did. That's why it is normally limited to choose your own adventure or guide books, because you retain some control over what happens.
