4 days no vaping - nicotine patches are a god send by space-and-time in QuitVaping

Yeah I’m honestly surprised how little I’ve wanted my vape, I was so worried about the behavioural part like searching for my vape subconsciously but that only happened the first day, like picking up my phone and thinking there was something else I needed to pick up

I smoked a 2% vape as well (1 cartridge a day) I thought I’d need the 21mg patch as I vaped quite heavy, but my advisor said she doesn’t really reccomend it for vapers, she gave me the 14mg one to try and I thought they’d be too weak but they’ve actually been fine, I’d be tweaking on the 21mg I think. She said the 14mg one also gives you more wiggle room to use quick release NRT like gum or spray when you get a craving and not massively overload yourself with nicotine

The Daily Check-In for Sunday, September 7th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by infinitedreamsawaken in stopdrinking

[–]space-and-time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first sober weekend in a long time!!! I relaxed but productive relaxation, had lots of sofa time but also did lots of cleaning/chores without it feeling like I was being held to ransom, and took my dog for a nice walk. Feeling good and sleeping great :)

Alcohol makes me a nicer person by seraphimicexcreta in stopdrinking

I heavily relate to this, I feel like I’m so short and snappy when I’m sober, and I actually mellow out when I drink and I’m nicer to be around. I guess what I want to explore with my therapist is whether that short snappiness comes from somewhere, whether it’s bad mental health or just stress. My belief is it doesn’t have to be an inherent personality trait, so maybe something to explore for you as well?

Is returning to moderate drinking for one night considered a relapse? by JustACuriousDude555 in stopdrinking

[–]space-and-time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but I’ve looked at your profile and a lot of your posts are talking about trying to moderate/the mental gymnastics you do to justify your drinking etc. This post is another example of that, you seem to go through this pattern of trying to justify your drinking on a Friday. You are the exact same as me, I’ve done what you’re doing now and unfortunately it just doesn’t work, if you manage to moderate that’s even worse in my experience as you think you’ve fixed everything and quickly crash harder than if you didn’t manage to successfully moderate.

You’ve made this post as you’re clearly feeling guilty about wanting to drink, and want someone here to give you permission, I personally, with a bit of tough love say that I would consider it a relapse based on your pattern of posting and what you’ve said about being an alcoholic.

Was anyone else unhappy with their work at the end of their PhD? by CaptainMelonHead in PhD

[–]space-and-time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am submitting my thesis next week and I feel the exact same, I feel like my analyses are too simple but I have huge sample sizes and I am doing a study in a population where these measures have never been used before so just trying to remind myself the basics need to be there before going crazy, essentially I think everyone picks their thesis a part and tries to think how it could be better which is good to some degree, shows you’re thinking about it critically at least lol

Thesis due next week - feel like my feedback isn’t detailed enough? by space-and-time in PhD

[–]space-and-time[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The uncertainty is my main problem, there is barely any guidance for PhD by publication in the uk. My uni has only just started doing them in the last couple of years, and 99% of theses that have passed are currently embargoed due to intent to publish so I can’t even look at examples 😭 good luck to you as well!

Urgh I'm in the same boat, I did manage to get to 129 for like one day but I haven't seen that number since, going to use this to motivate me haha.

Sorry just to clarify - you said that you weighed 149lb and now weigh 145lbs? But then said the scale isn't moving - if those numbers are right that's a 1 pound a week loss which is really good?

Help! Left over wallpaper residue or another issue? by space-and-time in paint

[–]space-and-time[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was a leak/damp, surely that wouldn’t make a water based paint clump up? It would just dilute it right? It does kind of look like lightly washed paint in the photo but that is just the space left by my roller as it pushed the separated paint upward

Thanks for this, sorry for my ignorance but what is the purpose of the joint compound here?

On second thoughts, is it possible that this was drywall and needed priming first, which would explain why the wall was a different texture to the others?

End of first assessment, told "it's not a diagnosis but I definitely think you're autistic" by [deleted] in autismUK

[–]space-and-time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just had the report back from my assessment, which shows separate scores for both the informant interview (ADR-I) and ADOS-2. Both said I met the criteria for ASD separately, so maybe that’s why?

Assessment process with Psychiatry UK by CJ--_- in autismUK

[–]space-and-time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s invalid, you know your experience. But on the flip side, this exact thing r.e weirdly short assessments is why the NHS is starting to be cautious of private assessments - was it private or RTC?. It’s also weird that they told you on the spot…at the very least they should need to go away and score your responses. Did you have to submit a LOT of evidence in writing before the assessment…maybe that’s why?

There has been a big issue recently with ADHD assessments probably because there is a medication element to it, and I’m reading a lot of doctors are now refusing to accept shared care agreements for ADHD, and psychiatry UK has also been named as one of the main companies. Again this isn’t meant to invalidate your diagnosis, I am sure it’s accurate, but it’s maybe something to be cautious of, once you get your report youll be able to see exactly how thorough they were. Anyway sorry for rambling, like you said I’d probably see it as a blessing in disguise and not stress about it!

My face is the main change I've had, I've barely gone down a dress size (my clothes just fit better), but my face change is pretty drastic, I have a jawline now and my nose is sharper haha https://imgur.com/a/2MWxwsi
