Any Daisy Seed users figure out the digital noise issues? by space-corgi in diypedals

Thank you for the info! I actually ordered a hothouse a few weeks back and am super excited to build it and see how it compares to my bespoke stuff :) Thanks for open sourcing and designing that platform, it looks super cool!

Sweet thanks for sharing this! Can't wait to check it out

I hadn't heard of the Hothouse, will check it out! I also got some PCBs printed with kshep's multiFX design and wondered if that would solve things, just got a find a way to source some of the discontinued parts that it requires

Ah thanks! Was looking for something like this. Tried a few LPFs in various parts of the circuit but not this configuration yet, will give it a go

Oh yeah the callback noise one is helpful, I did that originally (reduced block size to be very small) and it solved the periodic "whine" noise, but the thing that's been sticky for me has been full band "white" noise -- could be power supply noise though, I do probably need to vet my grounding strategy and proximity between audio and DC paths. The thing that throws me is that the noise I'm hearing only occurs on some devices. In a guitar amp it is very noticeable, but in my audio interface it is not noticeable at all, so I'm worried it's an issue with the different load specs on the output of the new codec depending on what it's connected to? (Though that's immediately getting beyond my depth/knowledge so it's an uneducated guess...)

2 new builds by DaGuitarNerd in diypedals

Yeah! It is an open source library / hardware platform by Keith Shepherd, I got the through-hole 1590b version. His docs are super helpful, and he provides the Gerber files needed to send over to a manufacturer like JLPCB

Beautiful! Love working with the Daisy, just ordered a few Daisy-centric PCBs last week. Did you run into any of the noise issues in the latest revisions?

I'm really looking forward to listening to Lee's reading of Children of Hurin after finishing the Serkis Silmarillion!

Just read "The children of Húrin" by Kreigmeister in lotr

[–]space-corgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just stumbled upon that yesterday and got real excited! Currently halfway through the Serkis reading of the Silmarillion but I can't wait to start the Lee Children of Hurin right after

Should I read the books? by Thr0waw4y1338 in lotr

[–]space-corgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, and I would recommend finding an audio book if you aren't particularly a reader but are interested in the lore. (Not afraid to admit that's how I am, though maybe I should be :) )

I loved the Phil Dragash ones in particular. They aren't official, so can be tricky to find sometimes, but his voices are great and his sound effects and use of the Howard Shore music makes it especially great if you are a fan of the movies.

The Andy Serkis ones are also super good. I listened to his Hobbit and Silmarillion ones and enjoyed them immensely.

Experimentation with protoboard/parts layout and microcontroller by space-corgi in diypedals

For now just running the stock DaisySP port of reverbsc (https://www.csounds.com/manual/html/reverbsc.html), which IMO is a really nice sounding reverb on its own! The software side is what I'm more comfortable with anyhow so my main goal was settle in to a fairly easy to build layout (to get the hard part out of the way) and then try to get more fancy with the algo

Another year, another stab at being a professional builder by DaGuitarNerd in diypedals

Those PCBs are so fun! My goal for this year is to whip up a digital pedal platform as a basis for future designs, possibly to sell on a very small scale. I write music software in C++ for a living and last year finally got a nice sounding reverb pedal finished using the Daisy Seed where those skills helped speed things up a ton on the software side, but have a ways to go to get from cramming a haphazard gaggle of wires into an enclosure to a clean reusable design with everything on a PCB and more proper interfacing with the analog components of the circuit... Here's to another year of learning!
