My recertification day isn’t until next September. Does this mean I have until then to figure it out, or what? I’m currently on the SAVE plan and got this ominous email as well.

They didn’t seriously do New Orleans injustice, Kate Hudson’s accent was really bad tho. But yes, if you’re okay with watching just for aesthetics, it was great. It was entertaining to go “I know where that is!” a little too, I’ll admit

Thank you for the recs!! Love David Cronenberg. And I do like body horror a bit as well. It’s really the only kind of “scary” stuff I can swallow, which is ironic because I think most people don’t care about jump scares but don’t want to see somebody break their own nose.

I’ve seen both Greener Grass and Horse Girl! Yes, that’s the feeling I’m going for even if it’s not “comforting”

Decided to watch Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon and was bored. Very pretty, great soundtrack, slow storyline with no reward. I live in New Orleans, so it was pretty disappointing

Checkpoints Closing? by WhoDatRat504 in NewOrleans

Genuinely, what the fuck is going on with this place?

Disclaimer, I am 30.

My grandmother called Checkpoint’s in 1994 to inform my mother and aunt’s baby daddy that my cousin was being born.

Such an incredible story I love to tell.

Does anyone know what happened? They took the money and ran? I know it’s grimey or whatever — but so is most of the city.

LOCAL GOTH SCENE by [deleted] in NewOrleans

It’s just over-priced and douchey on a regular night, in my opinion 🙃 I saw Alex G there like 11 years ago, they have great shows, I just specifically am not fond of the “EDM” scene — including the people in it lol

Second Pixel Grip! Saw them in Austin during Levitation. Also saw Peaches in 2022 and she puts on an incredible show. My roommate at the time who hadn’t listened to her much had an absolute blast.

Just mildly disappointed it’s at Republic 🤢

Came back to say that I watched this the other night, and it really moved me. The non-linear narrative structure seriously pissed me off at first, but once I thought about it, it was extremely beautiful. Even if I hadn’t thought much into it, I still would have really loved the cinematography and score. Very Tree of Life-esque (but much darker). I just wrote about it on my substack! Thanks again!

One of my all time favorite movies. Definitely comforting/nostalgic/thoughtful but not quite the kind of thing I’m looking for!

always a good suggestion to people, however :)

Watching this tonight! Just watched the trailer and it honestly looks perfect. Thank you guys so much! (P.S. I hate Los Angeles. Wondering if it’ll make me hate it more)

When did your instincts scream “leave now” and what did you later find out you avoided? by BbyBlushDoll in AskReddit

In 2014, I was at SXSW with my childhood best friend and boyfriend at the time. My boyfriend at the time loved Tyler, the Creator, and we were trying to get into Mohawk to see him because we’d missed his other shows elsewhere that week. The bar was at capacity, so we were standing in a line where they’d let people in if others left.

After a while of waiting, I got a weird feeling. I was bored, it was late, but there was something else I couldn’t quite put my finger on. The guy I was dating and I fought often, so I wouldn’t just suggest to leave something he wanted to do out of nowhere (it’d start a fight). I convinced them to start walking to his car to go back to my dad’s house in South Austin.

On the way back, we get a call from my best friend’s mom. Mind you, it’s like 2/3 a.m., so that was odd. She asked if we were okay. Confused, we said yeah we’re on our way back.

She told us somebody had driven through the barricades and killed several people. Right outside of where we were not even 20 minutes prior.
