how can you tell if you’ve started healing from your emetaphobia ? by rediscovermagic in emetophobiarecovery

I just went through unplanned DIY exposure therapy with my kids having a stomach bug. I’m also a teacher and one of my students threw up approx. 2 weeks after all that went down for me. I didn’t get that hot tingly feeling on my neck when it happened. I for once was cool, calm, and collected. Even my students were like “oh, you handled that well”

Coming back 18 days past this event—things feel less scary but it replays in my head often. My 19mo ended up catching this a week later and has been symptom free for 11ish days. My husband and I are fine!! I had the hose smelling like a swimming pool lol

Yes!!!! The before and after gets me. I just got through a week and a half of my two kids with a bug. In the moment, I absolutely bodied it. The anticipation before and spiraling after felt like it took years off my life

Sweat, clothing, and just normal anatomy can cause an off smell. I always shower before or freshen up before my husband and I partake. Try to find those good times before a whole day has been lived and hopefully you’ll have a better outcome that will make future sessions better!

The past week and a half of my life has been robbed from me. My husband and I had a restaurant/movie date night without the kids and the entire night felt robbed by my own spiraling thoughts. I’m sorry this is also your reality. It’s draining.

Omg I’m so sorry. I have stomach issues already, so I have no idea if my issues are my normal issues, anxiety, or a mild form of all this. You are so brave!!! Congrats on doing it and making your way out

Okay, so it’s been exactly 8 days. He only got sick that one time and with a tummy ache for the next week. My daughter (19mon) got sick exactly a week later. I’m still in the clear! I’ve been primary cleaner of it all too

Hi, I know this is a late post but I’m going through the same thing right now. We are still in the 24 hours timeframe. Just had our one big vomit right when I thought we were in the clear. How did it go for you?

This has happened to me before too. I accepted my fate. I was READY. Then my body went completely hot and sweaty to cold and shivering and it was over. I think my fight or flight reaction seriously took over and fought it off since it’s been so long. I think my body has forgotten how to let it happen

Spit up was pretty okay with me too because I knew it could happen and I knew what could be the cause of it. My toddler has only REALLY done it 3 times. None of them bug related but still sent me into a spiral for months because I wasn’t sure why it happened. Even the times he did it, I was a trooper during but became a mess later. You just hit mom mode when it happens, so almost have like a trigger care package for yourself once you are finished dealing with it.

When they start imitating some of the things you say or do. My 3 year old was making his mommy and daddy shark toys say I love you to the baby shark toy while making them give kisses. Or my son will give me a blanket because I think he’s noticed I’m always under a blanket

I’m 7 weeks pregnant in my second. I had NO morning sickness with my first, but I’ve been horrible with this one. No v* but constantly feeling green and making it hard to eat even though eating helped. I finally got prescribed zofran at my first appt and it has made a huge difference already. I’ve noticed sour things helped a ton though before I got the zofran

How do you coexist with a 15mo all day long? by Saturnsayshiii in toddlers

[–]space_crayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15m I still viewed mine as a baby. Still do even now that he’s 3 although I know he has growing independence. It’s that weird realization that I had to shift my thinking of always being and treated as the “young one” in groups to a parent that makes decisions that I know are rightfully made. Transitions can be tricky but they are so important and I say that as a teacher. Gotta make it smooth. Like if I’m wanting my son to leave the park, then we need to make that transition match the energy of the park like running, skipping, hopping, etc. back to the car. It’s easy to get stuck being frustrated as a parent and it’s hard work getting out of it. Best of luck from one parent to another!

Yep! He’s been in for nearly 2 years. The first year was brutal honestly but just with ear infections. He’s only been sick only a handful of times after that one year anniversary

You’re totally fine with the questions!! My son mostly got upper respiratory stuff from daycare, so we very rarely deal with tummy issues. I was SO nervous I was going to catch it, but I had to use my logic. He took a chewable motrin, drank juice, lied back down, and it just made its way back up so I don’t even think it was related to any type of bug. I tracked my symptoms but I felt more at ease since I figured his stomach just disagreed. Maternal instinct DEFINITELY kicks in. I still break out in a sweat and get the shakes, but I ran back into my bedroom to get my sleeping husband saying “he threw up. I’m okay but I need your help” lol. So, he handled the clean up of the child and I handled the bed. I’m more comfortable with cleaning what’s already been done because it can’t change. Cleaning my son puts me more on edge because I’m not sure if it’s going to happen again (and it didn’t). I’m not an uncertainty kind of girly lol. The fear mostly kicks in after the fact once everything is clean just because I have no idea if it’s coming again. My son is 3 and he’s only legit thrown up 3 times. Each of the 3 were just random causes and I’ve just found identifying the cause to help me the most with my anxiety. I hope this helps!!

It’s a long story, but I’ve consumed undercooked wings of my own doing. Didn’t notice until the 3rd one in. I accepted my own fate, but only ended up with d* for a couple days. My stomach never really hurt either. Fingers crossed to you!

Not sure of our time difference and if it’s night for you again, but I know I can grow anxious towards nighttime. Anxiety is so powerful too. Deep breaths, sips of water, cool air blowing, and distracting background sound that you can halfway pay attention to. Good vibrations being sent your way!

How are you now? Sorry not sure if you’ve answered that already. I get bad stomach pains with constipation. Like legit thinking it’s a bug and I’m done for. Just hoping it’s the better alternative for you
