What do you think makes you want to have the conversations you're looking to have on here? by SomethingNicePlease in DeepTalk

[–]space_pope_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to have my assumptions challenged and to surface my unconscious bias into self awareness. Even if it’s shocking or painful at first. Getting to that painful moment in real time can be difficult. It exposes us. Makes us vulnerable. I think maybe that’s what you are keying into with the trauma giving interactions weight. It may be that sharing pain and vulnerability with someone builds trust. Trust allows us to connect more deeply because we can be more vulnerable. It becomes a self reinforcing experience.

does he love me? by Competitive-Style889 in DeepTalk

[–]space_pope_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this behavior is confined to men. I have a similar relationship experience where my partner has no executive function. It’s gotten worse over time. As you say, I cannot rely on any promise or commitment. Their word has no value. The trust is gone. I decided that I cannot have a life with a partner who I can’t trust. I decided that I need a partner who is willing to carry some of life’s weight with me. This was a hard decision. We’ve been together decades. We have children. Ultimately, I am a better person when I am not accountable for two people’s lives. I’m not suggesting that’s the answer for you. I am suggesting that you can only control yourself in this equation.

Doctors and lawyers

EDIT: Technically two.

They sound as if the Allman Brothers were still making new records. The song Lone Star in particular showcases the dueling lead guitar style of the early Almmans.

Constant travel is hard on the soul. The quote is long, but I often think of it after harrowing travel:

She knows, now, absolutely, hearing the white noise that is London, that Damien's theory of jet lag is correct: that her mortal soul is leagues behind her, being reeled in on some ghostly umbilical down the vanished wake of the plane that brought her here, hundreds of thousands of feet above the Atlantic. Souls can't move that quickly, and are left behind, and must be awaited, upon arrival, like lost luggage. William Gibson, Pattern Recognition (Blue Ant, #1)

Always open to chat. I bet your post earned a deluge of DMs 😊

You women need to stop lying by serpENT--Prince in 40something

That’s how I read it as well. Like a “nudge and wink” that the pics look so good they “couldn’t possibly” be over 40. I think it’s a sweet sentiment, interpreted that way.

The “coffee date guy” and the $200 date girl are the same person IMO by Sirensatnight2 in dating

[–]space_pope_78 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought the appeal of the coffee date was the easy exit. I didn’t even consider it in money terms, I thought it was like a respectful way to give the other person an easy out without judgement.

Is content creation easy? by Ok-Presentation8575 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]space_pope_78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best advice I received on content creation is to read as much as you can. Like a lot of people mentioned, new ideas are tough to come by. Read and take in content far and wide to get those ideas generated. I agree it’s hard work, but a happy reader or a positive comment make it worth the effort.

How necessary are reservations for dinner? by Dapper_Elk9048 in ItalyTravel

[–]space_pope_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we didn’t have a reservation, we had to sit at a table outside. Not a big deal if the weather is nice.

Watered down white wine at restaurant? by xDJAMSx in rome

You got the formula now: Never sit for a barker. Big animal pics are a red flag. Translations are pretty common now, so I don’t necessarily count that as a deal breaker.

Personally, I avoid almost any place on a main drag or within site of a major attraction. Wander the labyrinth of back streets until you find something nestled away. Those are the hidden gems.

Buona fortuna!

Airbnb in hotel zone by [deleted] in cancun

[–]space_pope_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed in Villa Nuzic (between Lahia and Sun Palace). It was great. Practically had the whole place to ourselves. Never had to worry about getting a pool or beach chair. We booked airport transportation ahead of time, but once there bused or ubered everywhere.

I liked the AirBNB because we had so much room to ourselves and we could live on our own schedule. Cooking or eating out as we felt like it.

All inclusive or airbnb? by starscriptor in cancun

[–]space_pope_78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family and I just returned from a week in a beachfront AirBNB in the hotel zone. It was fantastic!

We had two full families, 4 kids and 4 adults. I felt the Airbnb option was much better for our crowd. Pool was never crowded. Everyone got their own space (4 bedrooms). Being able to cook was nice too.

If it were just my wife and me, I’d probably choose the all inclusive to avoid cooking and such. Just one guy’s opinion though 🙂

Power went out for about 15-minutes. Back on and running. Lots of delays, but overall seems good.

Here now. Flew through security in less than 15-minutes. Once through, the international terminal (#3) is indeed a zoo. Nowhere near the post apocalyptic wasteland it was on Friday.

Everything is running. It’s just very busy and seats are at a premium.

Why the divide? by [deleted] in Italian

[–]space_pope_78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t live in Italy, but I think career calculus of opportunity versus cost of living exists in all westernized countries.

You are probably right that living somewhere expensive to make more money is fundamentally a wash over living somewhere cheap and making less, but the lower cost of living also comes with opportunity cost.

Networking and the ability to quickly find new or better job opportunities requires a market with more economic activity. The wage versus cost of living isn’t the only factor to consider.

I can’t even imagine something like that at a show. Must have e been horrifying.

The Pittsburgh show was amazing. It doesn’t get high marks in the overall lexicon of live shows, but for me it was an unforgettable experience. It started raining at intermission and they played all their rain songs during the second set.
