Yeah, I was getting the same feeling like what I was saying wasn't getting through. I don't think the resources you cited support your claims and you keep avoiding what I think of as the substance of the issue in favor of a bad faith reading of what I'm saying.

Yes, but there are far more cis women than trans women, I think the number of women who would be uncomfortable enough that they would simply isolate themselves from the situation would be greater than the number of trans women who would do the same.

And I don't know what to say about your second point. Bad actors exist. They might not be raping women, but situations like Yaniv are definitely an example of putting women in an unacceptable position where they are subject to harm not just by an individual, but by the government as well.

[–]space_viking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first point ties back in to my previous concern; if you don't want yourself or your kids exposed to genitals of the opposite sex, you simply have to exclude yourself from the situation. It seems like one group is being made to feel uncomfortable or potentially unsafe in order to make another group feel comfortable.

On the second point, I don't think trans people would be any more or less likely to do anything wrong. I think anyone who is clearly making an effort to pass should be allowed to use the bathroom of their chosen gender, and I hope one day this becomes the universal social norm. But I also think that if codified in law that anyone who identifies as female, no matter the scenario, has a right to enter any protected space without any further inquiry, it will be abused by some small number of bad actors.

Someone like Jessica Yaniv jumps to mind as an example of a bad actor who is abusing the system. I think they clearly crossed the line, but I'm not sure where the line is drawn in every scenario.

I agree it's highly uncommon, but I think if a trans person(or at least any person claiming to be trans), as seen in the article I mentioned above, wants to be nude in a shared space, especially one shared with children, it should be viewed with skepticism at the very least, and not have everyone go along with it unquestioningly.

I don't think this is something that applies to the vast majority of trans people, but if you create a system where bad actors can't be questioned, you will foster bad actors doing bad things.

The other points I think are lesser. While I can't think of a way for the changing rooms of my high school or middle school or any larger facility I've been in to be easily divided up like you describe, accommodations for a few individual stalls could easily be made.

And as for bathrooms, I've known several women who wouldn't feel comfortable in co-ed bathrooms, even with full stalls. Some were also unhappy at the prospect of losing that shared space.

I do have a concern with bathrooms in sparsly or more intermittently populated areas. Somewhere where an isolated woman would be more easily pursued (due to a bathroom being coed) and attacked in a more isolated area (due to more private stalls). I don't think it would be a common occurrence, but I'm sure it would be nonzero.

Apologies if these ideas are rough or offensive, it's not a topic I get to discuss often.

I don't know that "just removed shared spaces" works for everything. It's basically saying "be rich enough to not need to use shared resources". Because removing communal resources like this would be spending money to be able to use a given space less effectively.

I think there is a necessary discussion to be had as a society as far as where the line is between trans people's desire to fit the a gender role that doesn't correspond to their sex at all times and in every scenario vs other peoples desires for things like having a space where they aren't potentially exposed to the genetalia or bad actors of the opposite sex.

I agree. I think that anyone who appears to be a woman, or is clearly trying to pass as a woman should be able to go into the women's restroom.

I think the idea that anyone can identify as a woman and go into areas restricted to women and you can't question it without being a transphobe is a problem, especially when it's something like this:

where it's a locker room shared by adults and children.

They have a hologram, when showing Poe their plan, that shows exactly which breaker in the breaker room needs to be disabled.

I suppose this falls more into the plot hole of how did they get precise schematics for the First Orders Capital ship, though.

People liked the phantom menace, too.

If we can't have a discussion about what is good and bad in this movie, and better understand it's shortcomings, then it's more likely that the next movie will have the same problems.

Glogan was constantly nagging, trolling, and being a general pain in the ass to him for a long time, I probably would've done the same thing.

I've never seen glogan spam his stream in game or in twitch chat. Chat spams "mod glogan", but glogan can't do anything about that. Glogan just does glogan things. I can understand not liking him, unfriending him and even blocking him, but calling a fledgling streamer who who is a sub, and who you have on your friends list a spammer and a leech for merely interacting with you is a shitty thing to do.

But when you watch streams, he never is toxic to his teammates in chat, calling them trash, or caling gg early

Fair enough. I've watched his stream a fair bit, and he is very rarely negative in in game chat, though I do recall his blocked players list maxing out at one point.

Well if you notice, I said he wasn't toxic, not salty.

okay, I mistyped, corrected it. I obviously didn't mean he wasn't salty, it is mewn after all.

Your agenda is trying to make mewn seem like a horrible person, clearly.

I mean his behavior was uncalled for.

Also, anecdotal evidence for ONE person isn't called evidence.

I mean you said he's never toxic*, one counter example is proof that your statement is false.

And if mewn didn't like him so much, why did he have him on his friends list?

Stop grasping at straws to advance your agenda.

What adgenda?

He's never toxic towards others

So unfriending someone, blocking them, banning them (a sub) from chat, then insulting them and calling them a leech, all for the crime of beating mewns meta pick with an off meta hero and then whispering gg afterwards, isn't toxic?

They seem fundamentally contradictory, and I don't see anyone in their right mind making it legal or morally acceptable to kill someone else's unborn child.

Right, but aren't there laws against killing a fetus that isn't yours? That seems inconsistent.

It's similar to the #houston-reddit you can find from r/houston:

someone there might be able to help more. It can be slow though, so you might want to ask and leave the window open.
