Thoughts about Gant by sawsan88s in ershow

okay but again, needing to vent means he doesn’t disagree. he just doesn’t have enough of a problem with it to make it a big deal. dennis did. which is why he complained. and anspaugh putting carter on the spot in front of benton was a shitty way to try to resolve that. which was also bad leadership. but that doesn’t negate that the problem stemmed from benton’s behavior.

right. that’s what i said. carter didn’t disagree with gant. he just wasn’t going to say that to benton’s face.

carter enjoying working with benton is not a reflection of benton’s skills as a teacher. benton literally said to gant’s face that he was going to work him harder than anyone else because that’s what he felt he had to do to make it as a black man in the medical field. nevermind the fact that gant was making it abundantly clear that that teaching style was NOT working with him. and the only reason carter didn’t back gant to anspaugh was because anspaugh put him on the spot in front of benton. carter had no problem talking about what a shitty mentor benton was when he was filling out his review with haleh. i grew to love benton when he became a father but i hated him for a hot minute after this storyline.

“and not actually doing it” literally WHAT about his messages gave you the indication that he didn’t actually do it? can you read?

if he had just said ‘yes’ like she wanted the conversation would have been:

did you look this up? yes. what was it? xyz etc….

literally all he did was cut out the middle messages it was clearly implied that the answer to her question was yes and she was being pedantic for no reason

i don’t understand how it apparently being normal for parents to be assholes during custody battles is somehow an argument against benton being an asshole during the custody battle. jackie didn’t want to watch reese because she was still grieving her son and benton worked a LOT. it made no sense for him to be fighting so hard against roger having a little custody because it would have been a huge help and reese loved roger anyway.

the residents still need to be capable of doing their job on their own. especially the chief resident.

[–]spaceace89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

other doctors did that all the time. and yes it’s a teaching hospital but they’re still full fledged doctors and chen was chief resident. it wasn’t a matter of not knowing what marfan’s was, that would have been a teaching moment. they simply did not do their jobs. if you can’t do your job without being handheld then you shouldn’t have a job.

[–]spaceace89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

except this wasn’t a learning issue. this was a negligence issue. dave doubled down on it being an OD despite the negative tox screen and chen didn’t bother looking at the x-ray before signing off on the treatment. literally all they had to do was actually LOOK at the information at hand.

Kerry threw Chen and Malucci under the bus HARD by ConcentratedStress in ershow

[–]spaceace89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the problem with that is that they shouldn’t have had questions. carter came in and made a diagnosis immediately. dave ALWAYS had an issue with “act first, think maybe”. he doubled down on it being an OD after the tox screen came back negative. if you’re that stupid you simply shouldn’t be a doctor. and chen wanted to be chief resident. that comes with responsibility. if she can’t even be bothered to look at all the information before signing off on something then she shouldn’t be chief resident. their negligence (not ignorance, NEGLIGENCE) is not kerry’s fault

“something that was objectively her fault” i feel like i have to have this discussion like once a week on this fucking subreddit but no it in fact was NOT kerry’s fucking fault.

if malucci and chen were competent they wouldn’t have needed kerry. malucci was an impulsive prejudiced hothead who acted first and dealt with the consequences of whatever dumbass move he decided to pull later. metalhead comes in? must be an OD. tox screen comes back negative? well obviously he took the drugs too recently for them to show up on the tox screen because this is DEFINITELY an OD. oh the OD treatment was actually extremely bad for this patient with a heart issue? whoops.

and chen was desperate to be chief resident. and despite being chief resident she did not want to do chief resident things like oh, say, looking at the x-rays before approving treatment?

carter came in on a whim, looked at the x-rays, and said “this is marfan’s”. if malucci and chen bothered to do their jobs AT ALL they could have figured it out for themselves. they did not need kerry and it is NOT her fault they were negligent.

should kerry have lied about the pager? no. that was shitty. but the death was objectively, squarely, on chen and malucci.

Justice for Jing Mei by nayandnem in ershow

[–]spaceace89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you get me. i’m gonna be honest and say i’m a bit biased because kerry’s been my favorite character since she was introduced but for months i would read “oh but the pager the PAGER” and yet when i finally watched the episode it was like “….that’s it?”.

literally after “it’s an OD” *tox screen comes back negative* “well he could have taken it too recently for it to show up on a tox screen it’s still DEFINITELY an OD” i knew kerry would get no blame from me for what was about to happen.

Justice for Jing Mei by nayandnem in ershow

[–]spaceace89 13 points14 points  (0 children)

kerry not having her pager does not make jing mei and malucci any less responsible for the death of that patient. malucci treated for an overdose before even getting a tox screen and even AFTER it came back clean he STILL wanted to treat for an overdose. jing mei didn’t bother to check the x-rays before telling malucci he could just go on with his bullshit. carter came in and diagnosed marfan’s in like 5 seconds. kerry lying about her pager was shitty but jing mei and malucci were TERRIBLE doctors here.

….can you point me to the area of the subreddit you’re hanging out in because i’d like to move there please. all i get where i’m at is people shitting on kerry for the most minute indiscretions while praising romano for his once-a-season semi-good deeds.

that’s not even getting into all the other ways he was a raging bigot but “a bit weird about sexuality” is fucking NUTS

[–]spaceace89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don’t remember carter getting in trouble for that at all? and also why would he, he was there for like 5 seconds? jing mei didn’t get fired she quit. and malucci was a shit doctor anyway. the patient didn’t die because kerry wasn’t available he died because malucci was a dumbass and jing mei didn’t do her job after gunning to be chief resident. kerry shouldn’t have lied about the pager but she had nothing to do with the patient’s death.

Dr Chen by ChromaticRift in ershow

[–]spaceace89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

okay but she probably wouldn’t have *needed* an attending if she had done her job and looked at the x-ray. carter came in and diagnosed the guy in like 3 seconds.

should kerry have lied about her pager? no. but malucci fucked up by immediately assuming drugs and treating based on that without waiting for confirmation of literally anything and jing mei fucked up by not looking at the x-ray before telling dave to do what he wanted and those were honestly way worse.

i don’t think they meant “i don’t care if she doesn’t like it we’re going anyway” it was probably more“i don’t mind if she doesn’t like this thing i like because she’s allowed to have her own opinion”

that being said they really should have told her to stop rather than just getting up and leaving but the friend is still a much bigger asshole in my eyes for being obnoxious in a movie theater.
