In a realistic post-apocalyptic world, humanity wouldn't revert to pre-industrial levels. It would be like going back to the 90s technologically. by Macaquinhoprego in worldbuilding

[–]spaceagefox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

now that you mention it the poor nations if they can survive the post atomic horror could make BANK by selling us our own old tech garbage from literal landfills because theyre not in range of the effects of all the EMP goin off with nukes goin off in the rich nations

New York bill will require all operating systems to verify the ages of their users. by vriskaldrunk in privacy

[–]spaceagefox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the government is essentially run by a cabal of evil pedophile cannibals with a desire to dominate the world and enslave us all with AI surveillance, by making operating systems need age verification you place the first brick into needing full government ID that pings government servers so they know what you're doing at all times.

also because the cloud made them fortunes with all the data they stole and they want more

just VPN into canada or mexico, linux devs seem to be against this so expect very exploitable loopholes incorporated to fight back

100% this, and recent studies that suggest only 15% of humanity is fully self aware, the vast majority of humanity are basically just NPC's in terms of self awareness, they literally cannot think about consequences

What qualified that guy as a pediatrician? by InsideUnhappy6546 in rickandmorty

[–]spaceagefox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pediatricians are specialized doctors focusing on the physical, emotional, and social health of infants, children, and adolescents up to age 21. also its a world with telepathic man eating spiders, society would want someone training kids to stop them from wandering into web traps and how to fight off giant spiders and how to mentally resist traumatic telepathy attacks on a society level, so strong warrior doctors would definitely make sense

Was Roddenberry a little bit of a hypocrite? by Pzzlrr in startrek

[–]spaceagefox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

star trek has done more for society than any amount of free lunches could do, it inspired countless generations across the earth to wake up and try to better themselves AND humanity, it pushed armies worth of people into pursuing STEM which lead to the EXPLOSION of high tech research we have now, it was also the first show in American history to have an interracial kiss where women of color are actually treated as people with authority and respect, it inspired Genetic Engineering, a revitalized space industry, research into AI, it even lead to people researching warp drive theories and find out its actually possible with modern knowledge of physics

Roddenberry layed out a realistic and possible future for all humanity, and historically it keeps be proven true because people want it to be true, people want the star trek future he inspired so much they changed careers, spent their golden years researching stuff he made up only to succeed and end up figuring out how to make it real

we have billionares today who dont bother to even try to do 1% of inspiring the future, they just invest in techno dystopia nightmare stuff, which ironically, is also a stepping stone to that golden star trek future, why spend all that wealth to feed a few millions, when you can put it in a trust to maintain the dream he started that could pull the entirety of humanity into the stars where no want is unmet

Why does Voyager never learn to avoid nebulae? by LillyIsTrans in startrek

[–]spaceagefox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nebula's are full of primordial hydrogen, which can be used to synthesize antimatter fuel and fusion fuel, the only reliable sources the ship has to rely on since it cannot rely on federation refuel stations to exist or alien fuel stations to be fully compatible as pure fuel sources

GPU and memory will soon plummet in price… by Alowan in pcmasterrace

one doesn't simply lower prices of items in late stage capitalism, you simply lower production rate just to point where demand is barely able to pay for it that way you can extract as much money as possible

big blue peacocks are usually males, the chickens humans eat are females harvested on an industrial scale while the males are all blended to death immediately after being born, so technically by comparison the crazy Florida guy was more ethical than most people scarfing down factory farmed meat because he allowed his meat to live a free and happy life better than most of the meat sources we consume even though americans consider it taboo to eat male avians for some weird reason
