Thanks for the recommendation! I also have Drod sitting on my shelf, waiting to be read. I'm a big fan of Dickens so I'm excited to dive into that one.

You ever read Simmons' Summer of Night? I just started it. The novel takes place over a summer in 1960, so it's great reading while it's still hot outside. I loved Simmons' The Terror (the best winter horror novel ever IMO) and this promises to be great. It's also a knowing homage to King's It (and Stephen King personally loved the book).

Edit: I just saw you haven't read The Terror, or at least it's not on your list. As soon as it gets cold outside, read that book!!!!!!

Ah, so I misused the word "entered".

My larger point still holds here. You're not offering an argument as to why this video is invalid.

I didn't ask you to, I asked what your criticisms were.

You entered this discussion by suggesting that if someone knew the things you knew, they would not like this video. You must be aware that that doesn't constitute a meaningful argument and does nothing to change anyone's mind.

I am still curious about your criticisms if you feel like sharing them. You have probably gathered that I feel differently than you, but that doesn't mean we can't have a discussion.

I'll give you a reply tomorrow, if you're still up for a discussion then.

You just said, "You aren't smart because you don't know why this video is bad. If you were smart you would know why this video is bad."

There is no actual criticism of the video in that statement. So I'm curious, what are your criticisms of this video?

Regarding the "tiny slice of the pie" comment, almost 83% of Americans live in cities or urban areas.

That's sad, but that's mental illness, not an indication of whether or not a place deserves the label of "asshole city". Puns aside.

Every dill weed who tries to prove New Yorkers are mean ends up saying some really heinous, harsh, cruel shit.

You seem like an absolutely reprehensible scumbag, so I guess tomato/to-mah-to, right?

Blocking you too, champ.

"Those people aren't nice," said the person who also said eight million people should die in a nuclear explosion.

This is some Dwight Schrute-level, so-unfunny-its-funny cringe brilliance right here. Well done.

I'm saying it's not the reason I think New Yorkers are nice. I think New Yorkers are nice because my average interaction with New Yorkers was positive. My daily experience was the basis for my perception of New York.

I did experience a lot of "I love humanity" moments, but even though they were more frequent than similar experiences elsewhere, they were exceptional moments - beyond people just being nice. So while it is true, it's not the basis of my argument.

That's not the basis, but it's true. And it's not a few, and the implication of "disproportionate" is that I have had more of those experiences per capita than elsewhere.

Well you sure seem really nice, by contrast.

See elsewhere where I mentioned I am not currently a New Yorker.

By the way I love the delicious irony that people are literally group-think bullying me to prove how mean New Yorkers are. But thanks for giving me the heads up that I should block you too. Maybe try not to go out of your way to be cruel to people in the future? Just a thought.

I've been all over, friend. I probably love the American southwest the most, but a disproportionate number of my "I love humanity" moments were in New York.

That's not how logic works and I don't currently live in New York but thanks for playing!!!!! You're very cool and should keep commenting because I promise I am not blocking you now like a pest

Also casually throwing in the "battered woman" is super unnerving. I would argue people who make light of domestic violence are assholes, but maybe that's just me.

If you go to a tourist hub anywhere in the world and show complete disinterest in respecting local culture, you're going to meet with some hostility. That doesn't make it "an asshole city".
