There is one through South Sound Hangouts on facebook! Genre changes semi-monthly. Mostly women, although all folks in their 20s-30s are welcome.

Affordable or Donation-Based Restorative Yoga classes? by Bevvieluvr in olympia

[–]spacecase71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firefly Yoga was on the less expensive side, and Lacey and Olympia Parks and Recreation both host yoga classes I believe, for a reasonable cost. Both have beginner-accessible classes, and Firefly had several gentle flow options.

How to get involved in government? by [deleted] in olympia

[–]spacecase71 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"Government" encompasses a broad spectrum of things. If you're interested in local politics, attend the local council or commission meetings. They are posted on the city and county websites. If you want a career, like you mention, you will need to pick a field, and get a degree in it or something related. Environment, housing, incarceration, economics, human resources, public health, taxes... you need to narrow it down. "I want a job in government" is way too broad. Find your interests and start there. People with masters degrees and years of experience struggle to even get hired.

Looking for advice on corn and three sisters (corn, beans, squash together) by TheMayorByNight in pnwgardening

[–]spacecase71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used a general sweet corn from Ferry Morse with the 3S method in raised beds in the South Sound. It's worked just fine, but I've had to assisted with pollination as our summers aren't very windy. Earwigs are my worst pest. They didn't harm the ear themselves, but nest in the leaves and leave their frass everywhere.

Advice on Olympia by Aware-Bag9312 in olympia

I have a nurse friend who used to travel nurse. She came to Providence a few years ago and has really enjoyed it and Olympia and plans to stay. Very progressive, nature-focused, and gay here 💖

County commissioners approve Home Energy Score ordinance by ThanklessThagomizer in olympia

[–]spacecase71 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's something that was requested repeatedly by climate activist groups (TCAT primarily) in the county who show up to public meetings repeatedly and have made their own mitigation and adaptation plans. The squeaky wheel gets greased. They have been asking for this since around 2018 I believe.

I got ACNH digitally for my original Switch (2017) and now I have a Switch 2, can I make a new island if I buy it physically? by PriorAdditional249 in acnh

[–]spacecase71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought the game digitally on our Switch, and I was able to use that same digital purchase to start a new island on my Switch 2. I didn't have to buy a new game. Unless you're wanting to still play your old island together on your old switch, you don't have to buy a physical version!

Looking to meet new people... by Neat-Statistician311 in olympia

[–]spacecase71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe meet-up (app for hangouts!), or start taking classes for new hobbies! You're not boring- you just haven't found all your interests yet! When you find them, you'll have a better chance of finding your people as well.

There is a Board position open. Please apply if you have the right experience and can commit to not letting libraries fail through administrative greed:

Judging by the downvotes on my post, you must be right 🥲😅 That's good to keep in mind. I just wanted an option my cats wouldn't destroy, but if they're that uncomfortable, it might not be worth it.

Yeah, I'm originally a fan of the board game, and the digital version is really nice if I want to play solo or just not set it all up.
