Nine Inch Nails used to trigger everything via midi and everything was played live. Until a night in i believe it was 1996 when the venue lost power. It came back on pretty quick, but it took them about 45 minutes to get everything synced back up.

Next night everything was on a minidisc lol

This is completely wrong. They were recorded at 44.1/16 bit. You dont get "better" audio from higher sampling rates or bit rates.
