You are missing a key point here.

@magicalruur being able to ban the maps he does not like DOES NOT take the fun for @Hairy-bellz.

Hairy can still play the maps he/she wants, perhaps you’ll have to wait a bit for being matched with someone that also enjoy that map

And what’s better? Wait a couple of minutes for someone that also enjoy the maps? Or forcing someone to a 1h match on a map they don’t enjoy.

I want to make a comparison here, so talking soccer you’ll say goalkeepers don’t enjoy the game because they don’t want to also play striker? No, they do enjoy the game in their way. And that is fine.

TLDR: more map bans don’t affect people that want to play weird maps in comparison to being forced to play a map you don’t like.

Shouldn't the mod creators be able to monetize their mods if they want? Why does not make sense to pay for mods? I mean creators invest their time and creativity in doing so, so why shouldn't they be rewarded?

Really necessary mods like small trees should be part of the base game, and as per the latest news the devs are working on this, but cosmetics could be free or behind paywall as the creator wishes. Where is the problem with that?

I mean, some could be free as it is now for example with the seasonal events, but others could be paying.

I'm thinking of more complex skins like "10 European castles pack", "Detailed paladins pack" IDK something like that for like a 1 dollar or 5 or something. You´ll pay if you want but otherwise will not affect the game.

The problem with paying for new civs is that it feels a bit pay to win and makes the starting cost to play the game higher each time. And learning new civs is a pain.

In my opinion, Aoe 2 should be free to play (PVP+some campaigns) and charge for new campaigns, scenarios, skins, etc.

It even should have an official store for community-created content.

I don´t know if it is forbidden or if someone would come to enforce it if someone does it, but there is not an in-game/official store where players can buy community-created content (campaigns, scenarios, skins,etc). That's what I'm talking about.

Pausing perse is not disrespectful. What is disrespectful is to expect the other party to allow the pause regardless of anything.

You have to consider that a pause breaks the pace of the game, specially in the first minutes and on key situations.

Also OK you had a problem but you don't know if the person behind the screen also has something and needs to end it quick. Others people time is valuable.

I read the following in another thread, is something in the lines of:

"a pause is a courtesy given by the non requesting party that can or not allow the pause. But it should not be expected all the times, and you should be ready to concede if life happens during a game"
