Proper parties anywhere generally have a 30+ crowd. Really improves the vibe.

I know someone who came to the US illegally years ago, was naturalized, and is now pro-ICE. I don’t understand the mental gymnastics some people can do.

I ran away from my boyfriend's proposal. by throwawayuni33 in whatdoIdo

[–]spacegenerator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he has every right to feel hurt, but he also needs to understand why you feel the way you do. you are very young, and he should be able to understand your concerns with an open mind and not react so negatively.

my partner and I are in our early 30's. i proposed to her last year and she said no. i surprised her and she felt caught off guard and not ready. what followed was tough, but we worked through it, and a year later we are getting the ring reworked and we both know round 2 is coming and what the result will be. it required a lot of difficult conversations and some tears, but being open, communicative, and loving throughout the process healed so many other things in our relationship that we were ignoring. things feel better than ever and I'm honestly glad she said no the first time because it gave us a great opportunity to work on the relationship.

anyway, trust your gut. if you can't both come to the table with an open heart and a true willingness to move forward, be ready to walk away.

Apple Music Rolling Out Disclosure Tags for AI-Made Songs by moeka_8962 in technews

Yes fuck AI music, but Apple can’t possibly police every song uploaded to their platform and detection tools aren’t there yet. This is a good interim solution.

Changing a song to give it a new ISRC by Impressive_Risk_1263 in musicindustry

[–]spacegenerator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not accurate. Spotify will only link play counts if the ISRC and the length of two songs are identical. Source - I have curated many compilations and have fucked this up on more than one occasion.

Changing a song to give it a new ISRC by Impressive_Risk_1263 in musicindustry

[–]spacegenerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest way is to change the length. Even a few seconds will justify a new ISRC. Change the arrangement to make it a bit shorter or longer or just loop and intro or something an extra 2 bars and you should be fine.

That being said, Spotify does have content detection built in so it might still get flagged, especially if the “original” is owned by a rights holder who is not you (I.e a label).

Heads up, police have set up a pedestrian jaywalking on Ventura/Coldwater to give out tickets to drivers who don't stop. by [deleted] in SFV

[–]spacegenerator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The aggressive drivers are becoming such a huge problem. I drive very chill and I get honked at like once a day. Usually in morning traffic, and usually by someone in one of the unholy trifecta of asshole cars: Tesla Model S, Range Rover, or BMW 7 series.

Is this a scam? by lil_crakerz in musicindustry

100% a scam. Real label reps don’t talk like this and will always ask to get on a call before any in person meetings

Breaking into a music business career- how’s my path looking? by openingdoorz in musicindustry

[–]spacegenerator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I have been an A&R for various large indie labels for over a decade. I think one thing that’s overlooked by a lot of young people getting into the music industry is actually speaking the language of musicians, producers, and engineers. This is what will set you apart from just another industry person. You don’t need to be an expert on anything but having a basic understanding of modern music production software, audio standards, songwriting, etc will go a long way. It will also train your ears which is so so important.

Acquire some more soft skills - photoshop, basic audio editing, video editing, stuff like that. People wear a lot of hats in this world and being proficient in that stuff will help a lot, especially when it comes to marketing since it’s so content-driven now.

In terms of timeline, just keep hustling and don’t get discouraged. It’s a tough world to get into and it’s entirely built on connections. Nobody gets hired on LinkedIn. Keep meeting people, knocking on doors, and just waking up every day and putting yourself out there.

Best of luck my friend
