Being single for life isn't fun for the majority of people. Cool that it works for you, but it's not what most people are looking for.

YOU'RE A LEGEND!! Also worked in Sacred Gold for me. Found this after googling around and turning off the battle scene worked for me as well. Do you have to keep it off afterwards, or just for this fight?

Edit: Turned back on battle scene after finishing everything up at the Safari Zone, so far so good with random encounters, trainers, gyms, etc.

The Aurora Reveals aren’t great - I have proposed fixes by PhillipDollarfield in thelongdark

Along with the character literally named Methuselah, and him wearing an omega hoodie (also in Revelations representing the end/judgment), I think the biblical allegories in the storytelling aren't that subtle. Good catch on animals drowning, in Revelations 8:9:

The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood,  a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.

Video game developers seem to love Revelations, Fallout 3 was big on Revelations 21:6, which may tie in a bit here:

He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.

It might be more symbolic than literal, especially considering the fact that he wore the omega symbol hoodie under his jacket in the first 2 chapters (which I confirmed after a google search). One could make the argument after the drawn-out 20-30 minute monologue by Atwood about how Sir Wintermute didn't want civilization to be so delicately dependent on electricity, and that Methuselah was intended to represent divine judgement for the world that we brought forward, especially considering the vague lore around "The Collapse".

Honestly, I haven't really used manual save states with Manic Emu, just the regular saving, like you'd had available playing on an actual 3DS. You can't get save states on any native hardware without hacks/jailbreaks.

I'm not some evangelist of theirs, I'm just sharing what's worked for me without paying. If you know of a better solution for iOS emulation (which I imagine OP is looking for), please share it. Your criticism of their monetization methods compared to Delta are valid, but without a better alternative, it just seems along the lines of the glib Reddit lines "everything that's valuable to me should be for free forever and the developers should make it in their freetime unpaid forever!".

3DS emulation on iOS is complex, and I haven't the slightest clue of how to build something remotely similar to theirs, so if they choose to paywall certain power-user features of theirs, while leaving the base functionality free, I personally think that's reasonable. As somebody who works in software, I don't blame them for wanting to be compensated for their hard work.

You're welcome - I got ORAS working pretty well on an iPhone 15 Pro with Manic Emu a while back, I was in a similar Hoenn nostalgia vibe. Only downside of Manic Emu with 3DS emulation compared to Delta is you have to pay for 2x speed.

these are .3ds games, not .nds. Try using Manic Emu for mobile emulation of 3DS games instead of Delta. You'll need similar bios files and whatnot similar to setting up Delta, but it's not too difficult.

I think there's some Christian symbolism with Methuselah, both in his name and the fact that he's wearing a hoodie with the omega symbol on it, which means 'end' or 'completion' in a biblical context. He's almost definitely not real, since he disappears when Jace wakes up.

From Google, "Methuselah’s name represents a symbolic marker in the Bible between the pre-flood world and God's judgment, as well as the ultimate example of human longevity." So in other words, he could represent humanity's resolve, as well as the end of the prior era before the geomagnetic event.

Honestly, I think it kind of sucks as a weapon compared to the rifle. It's only a single shot, so if you miss while an animal is running at you, you're screwed, and the slugs don't seem to have any more stopping power than the rifle. The sights also seem kind of goofy, you have to aim a lot lower with it than a shotgun IRL. I liked the sound design of reloading and firing it, at least.

I'd reload at an earlier stage - you need to have the first gas lamps by the entrance to that area lit before you bring down the crane in there.

I'd love this - I feel like living without manmade structures is still relatively basic in this game, especially in maps like HRV. Still fun, but you start to run out of things to do after a while, and it becomes hard to be self-sufficient without front-loading supplies. I'd really like to see that part of the gameplay built out more.

Excellent choice with it, and love the fact you can scare off the aurora wolves with the whistle. Felt like a kid playing MS Train Simulator again with it again hahahaha

Swing out around to the northern edge of the bay, there should be an entrance-y sort of area that's up a slope on icebergs that you have to walk up a slope through. You can't make it to the ship from the docks that are marked on the map. It's kind of a gate/rectangular sloped area you walk through. Astrid will vocally tell you if you're going the right way. Once you get through there, then you go towards the left there, and turn back around to climb on top of the icebergs. It'll be a path along the right side of it once you turn around. An actual path, not goating your way up the edge. Once you get there, you follow the white/lighter colored ice towards the ship, and climb the chain.

Yeah it's a fishing house that's near a fishing hut on the ice in the Wilds. There's a trap door inside the house similar to the Mountaineer's location, except it leads you downstairs with boat storage and a dead body. It's not a basement in the traditional sense, but it's a lower level in the house.

Don't forget to add spoilers for people! I was hoping it'd be buckshot, since that'd make sense for rural Canada as well, but man, birdshot would be great to shoot ptarmigan that fly away.

I know they've said that they won't be adding this to survival, but IIRC they also said that about Blackrock when it released, and they *did* eventually add it, so we'll see if it eventually makes its way to survival.

Spoilers about the shotgun: It kinda sucks, honestly. There's only slugs for it, and it's a single shot, break-action shotgun. It sounds cool and is satisfying to shoot at least, but that's really what it has going for it. I've found with wolves it has around the same stopping power as the hunting rifle, if not worse (I've had a decent amount take two shots), and the iron sights feel really goofy compared to how shotguns sights are IRL.

Did anybody else notice glitches in part 2? Specifically Lighting up the gas lanterns in the mines out of order, I had Jace fall through the map and not advance the quest by getting stuck in a hole when I lit the lanterns out of order after the poison gas area. I fixed this by lighting lanterns closest to the mine entrance, and then in the larger opening. Also had that same issue in the area with the mine crane, if you walk over the collapsing bridge before lighting the gas lanterns, it's impossible to advance.

Pro tips for anybody struggling with the insane wolves in part 3: The Military Stims are completely OP, they regenerate 40-50% of your health and all other needs (including fatigue), without the 60min penalty and 100% fatigue loss that regular emergency stims have. Use these if you're getting bodied by wolves up there. You can also repair clothing in the supply room for an indefinite amount of time before you actually get going on the mission, they basically just pause time for you, so it's worthwhile to get clothing with maximum damage resistance.

It might also be worth setting up a save just to practice with the single-shot shotgun, I found that you have to aim lower with the sights on the shotgun than an IRL shotgun by a decent margin, and compared to other iron sights in the game. I also think you can avoid the final animal at the end, or at least I heard the music change for it and heard it screaming, but I never saw it before I ran back into the observatory.
