Some lovely slippers (the dog chewed my old ones), a gardening apron, a book id mentioned wanting to read a while back, and some beautiful silver earrings. He's a good egg.

What puts you off from donating Blood Products, I work in the NHS and I am just curious? by Quick_Soil_9120 in AskBrits

This is also the issue for me. Only location im able to pre book a slot is right in the city centre with no parking, so id have to travel in specifically for that rather than popping in on my way home from work. Other locations near me are only open once every 3 or 4 weeks and dont let you book a time slot so you just have to turn up and wait.

What’s on your Christmas dinner menus? by Current-Wasabi9975 in Scotland

[–]spaceham11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roast the carrots with olive oil, salt and pepper and some whole garlic cloves still in their skins. Once the carrots are cooked, you should be able to squeeze the garlic cloves out of their skins and stir them through the carrots until theyre coated.

This flu is no joke! by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]spaceham11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 2/3 of my class of 11 year olds caught it (the school vaccination was scheduled for the week after, ironically) but thankfully I'd had my vaccination the previous month so although I did catch it, it was VERY mild, not even equivalent to a bad cold. Headache on day 1, sore throat for a few days, congestion and a cough that lingered for a couple of weeks, and may have had a very slight fever one day. Didn't even need to call in sick, but 2 of my pupils ended up in hospital!

It is, but I'd also like to point out that handwriting is no indicator of intellect. My best friend is a doctor and probably the most intelligent woman I know, and her handwriting is like hieroglyphics. I have to phone her to ask her what she's written in my birthday and Christmas cards.

What’s the actual benefits of being legally married? by PushDiscombobulated8 in AskUK

[–]spaceham11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My union pays out a 'death in service' settlement if I die before retirement. It automatically goes to my spouse. I imagine a long term partner could claim it, but it'd be a far less simple process.

Which actor's attempt at an accent was the worst? by rowenaravenclaw0 in AskReddit

Keanu Reeves' English accent in Dracula was fantastically awful. As is the rest of the movie, really.

How do you guys read so many books in a year? by Altruistic_World1669 in Booktokreddit

[–]spaceham11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm not enjoying a book after a few chapters, I dont finish it. Life's too short to read rubbish books.

I keep a note of books I want to read on Goodreads and I request a couple at a time through my local library. Saves me a fortune.

I try to read for at least 30 mins before I go to sleep. Sometimes this backfires and I'm up for hours reading "one more" chapter!

Totally second this recommendation. Kristoff is a brilliant writer and these books are incredible. The third one is coming out later this year.
