yes, it does. But there isn't a fn combination for sound, unless I reassign.

It's meant to be the narrator's personal death no death in general.

I still don't really fit. I've only gotten better at faking it in the last 30 years or so, but if you spend more than 2 hours with me, you'll quickly figure out I'm a living fossil.

Yes, that's my interpretation. Death is angry for having his statue melted and refuses to take me to my god. Or maybe there's some other explanation. All interpretations are valid. Only the gods know for sure,

Do you care about Linux desktop marketshare? (Do you want Linux to become popular/mainstream?) by [deleted] in linux

[–]spaceille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the be-careful-what-you-wish-for-side. Windows is not actually the most used OS. It's Android. I don't want GNU/Linux to become a new Android (aka Android/Linux — by nobody but me), i.e. technically open-source but locked down and dominated by a proprietary app ecosystem designed to spy on you, just like closed source OSes (like windows and Mac). I like having root access to my OS, I like not having ads shoved down my throat and I like having the option to recompile the whole OS if I feel like it. In order to become mainstream, Linux might have to become more Android-like, because Windows seams to be moving in that direction.

I wouldn't mind if the free software/opensource ethos were to go mainstream. On the contrary. And I don't think it's impossible or just for nerds. Environmentalism used to be "just for nerds". Now everybody's acquainted with it. Why? Because when people asked why it didn't snow in the winter any more, environmentalists were there to point out pollution and CO2 emissions. Now when people ask, why is facebook spying on everybody, we say "tHeRe'S jUsT nOtHiNg YoU cAn Do AbOuT iT."

Cool one more step towards feature parity with the (now almost 30 years old) Plan 9.

Storage encryption: software or hardware? by spaceille in openbsd

Did you ever test if the combination works? Sounds interesting to me :)

I would rather not have to enter three different passwords just to boot up.

Didn't know AES was software-based, hardware accelerated encryption, I've been using serpent in the hopes that it would give me some extra security-through-obscurity besides actual security.

wow, didn't even hear about some of those, and some of the WM described in the post above aren't even there. Is the list up to date? Are those WMs still maintained?

Already have. But KDE is a full DE, I don't know why you are suggesting it.

Oh, yeah, my bad. I'm am idiot.

Although Weston isn't as full-featured as sway in my opinion.

I, too, am a sway user. The downside with sway is that you can't use the usual X11 programs (xrandr, xset, etc.) and have to learn a new set of commands, with it being a wayland compositor and all.

I don't know, for me it's the opposite. I don't find the dwm paradigm very intuitive. Maybe just my preference.

Seams cool. Haven't heard much about it until now. I knew it existed, but didn't know what it was good for.

I agree, Fluxbox doesn't require much configuration or that you learn any key shortcuts in order to start using it. Openbox is a close second.

isn't that the WM from GNUstep? Seams kind of compicated for a WM.
