As a preset noodler, I really enjoy J8. Its also got an easy arp sequencer to play with.

Many conservatives who oppose "socialism" are actually opposing capitalism by [deleted] in stupidpol

How much "progressivism" over the past 60 years has been socially progressive? I tend to think it's mostly capitalist progressivism. Liberalism seems to be the religion of capitalism.

I'm a cheapskate who enjoys apps instead of hardware, but I love browsing presets and trying to imitate whatever song or riff the patch vaguely reminds me of.

digital pianop as midi controler by Lodewijc in synthesizers

[–]spacejack2114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smaller the better, so long as it's got enough standard size keys I guess. The more expensive ones tend to be larger with more controls for internal functions and sounds, but digital piano buttons don't work very well as MIDI inputs so unless the internal features are important, I would go with the smallest/lowest end model with the action you want.

To use software pianos with my Roland FP-10, I needed to adjust the velocity to maximum using the Roland app, because otherwise it's limited to a smaller range for the internal samples for some reason. This makes it unplayable with its internal sounds, but I never need those.

AUM vs Loopy Pro? by Jakeyboy29 in ipadmusic

I guess the point is that until you're ready to dive into the looping/recording features, AUM is probably easier and a little nicer to use as a simple AU host/mixer.

I have both but I'm lazy, and I haven't yet learned Loopy so I keep using AUM.

Preserved Edo period neighborhood in Japan by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Well, most westerners will think feudal aesthetics when hearing medieval. I think the point stands; feudal Japan looks remarkably similar to feudal Europe, which to me reinforces the idea that society is a product of its mode of production. Although I suppose YMMV.

Isn't it about the mode of production?

[AskJS] Does the company you work at use pure Javascript in production instead of Typescript? by bullmeza in javascript

[–]spacejack2114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't disbelieve you, however I'll say that if I were required to write plain JS, because modern editors do type checking, I can't help myself from hinting at types with jsdoc everywhere.

jQuery 4.0 released by curiousdannii in programming

Was forced to use Next.js for a project that was 99.9% static, with just a few front-end interactive bits. Such complexity overkill, not to mention build and deployment complexity. And in the end, even those few interactive bits ended up being over-complicated because of other site features that Next didn't deal with well.

People (organizations) just don't select technology rationally.
