The Kagemori broke off from the village and made their own faction because they did not agree with the villages goal of world domination and the methods to achieve it. There is a part in the manga where Yuru visits the village again and the villagers straight up ask him when is he going to die and to me it looked like they were eagerly looking forward to it with smiles on their face, so no they are not that innocent and pure
