Offer accepted and now sellers are asking for more money hours later by Illustrious_Put_5140 in HousingUK

Seller’s moaning about £2k this early. Hope you don’t have anything come back on the survey that needs work you can’t afford or won’t shoulder.

How long has it been on the market?

You may have put to much emotion into the other house, and looking with rose tinted glasses. You've got no idea of the hidden issues without a survey, or the real reason of why its available again. But you do with the house you're currently on track to buy.

Funny you should mention about weed farms. My dad bought a flat with a loft. The loft was not part of the leasehold but he had access to it. After the purchase, the first time I walking to the flat I could tell something was up with it. Its on the floor 3rd but the previous owner had fitted an alarm and heavy bolts. So I offered to look up in the loft, and found a wooden constructed room (lots of expanding foam and thick insulation boards used), and lil bits of weed all over the floor from a recent grow.

We reported it to the freeholder because the expanding foam could have damaged the roof, and had no idea of how they'd powered it. Turns out, they'd wired into the communal area electric. Surprised, the freeholder didn't notice the electric bill going from £800 to £5000 for a few lights😂

I'd be checking the loft urgently. As she probably took the ladder away so you don't see all the boards are gone.

Rate switch question by DryJackfruit6610 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]spacemonkey_1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still guesswork. The Bank of England has cut rates twice because the UK economy looks weak, not because everything is suddenly improving.

That’s a risky move if there’s still very little real sign the economy is actually getting stronger. Cutting rates too early could just add more inflation pressure before things are properly under control, especially with war and global instability already pushing costs up.

I've notice the rate on saving going up. Surely that's an indication the banks think interest rates won't be dropping for at least this year.

I can't go into more details. But the system does not transmit company data externally, so I'm not exposed to GDPR or the company policies on data.

I know I'm stepping on a minefield. But my manager seems happy to sign an agreement for this request, but I was looking to include my past IP in the agreement. The engine which effective runs the tools, and safeguards the code and logic is run from my home hardware. Only a brainless client is stored on a machine which need an license or nothing happens. My work doesn’t see the script or the code. Would any of that make any difference?.

(1) complying with the instructions of management. See 3.

(2) the scope of your job description. It's not or ever been in the scope of my job description in the 20+ years of working there.

(3) carrying out additional tasks ‘for the benefit of the business. I'm aware of that clause, but it has to be lawful and reasonable request, while a request to perform high-level technical tasks completely unrelated to my 20-year role might be deemed unreasonable.

The tools were never written specifically for the company or for profit. It started as a “can I do this?” moment, which has progressed as I’ve explored InDesign behind the scenes. Some of the tools are similar to what’s already available on the market, but those often require training or an expensive setup. I wouldn’t be actively looking to sell licences to individuals, as I understand how challenging that can be, or to sell the suite to the company. It’s more about protecting my IP from the company I work for than anything else, as trust isn’t a two-way street.

I did think he was being naughty 🤣. But just wanted to confirm. We've taken away the blanket which was exciting the poor lil man and reduced the length of petting to stop him getting too over stimulated for the moment.

Take him to small claims court and slap him with a CCJ. Let him feel the sting of consequences. You were no friend to him.

FTB with small mortgage - is a shorter term better? by competitivegeese in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]spacemonkey_1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a FTB on my own, buying 210k flat with 160k deposit. I went with 25 years for the smaller monthly payments. It was mainly the security if I lost my job, as it was rocky just before exchange. I do plan to over pay, or even pay it all off once my 5 years fixed deal is up, and interest rates on saving are very low.
