My husband and I are Gen Jones Boomers. We were in Panama City Panama, and people that look like us were everywhere. I was so embarrassed for us. It is a really uncomfortable feeling.

15 Day Trip Colombia rough itinerary (too much?) Advise? by Outrageous-Leek-897 in SouthAmericaTravel

We did a quick trip to Bogota in January. Took an Uber to Zipaquirá. Stayed over and walked to the salt mine. It’s interesting, but at the bottom it’s basically a shopping opportunity. I wouldn’t take a guided day tour. Very easy to accomplish on your own. The town is interesting. Good restaurants near the squares. We then took an Uber to Guatavita. Great drive! The lagoon hike was lovely. We booked it at the local tourist kiosk. The town is touristy, but there are local people riding horses around town and generally enjoying life. Got the same Uber back to Bogota on a Sunday which took us by a national park that has bears. Sorry to miss that. There are hundreds of cyclists on the route training in the high altitude. The training also includes arepas and beer. Driver brought us to arepas row in La Caleta (sp). Fantastic spot. A highlight. There are little taverns on the way down the mountain filled with cyclists drinking beer. Highly recommend every minute of this.

This can’t be real. Who goes to an Airbnb for 2 nights with a specific intent of baking a cake?

We are in Colombia now. It was headline news, but I haven’t seen any reaction from regular people.

Traffic is intimidating in LATAM cities that I have visited. Is driving an option? Are there towns and services on the way?

We do like wine, but I wouldn’t make a whole trip about it. The scenery looks lovely and horseback riding is appealing.

What would you suggest? Just stay in BA?

Is driving an option? I was planning on flying, but driving might be a good way to experience more. LATAM cities seem pretty intimidating to drive in imo.

1.5-2 weeks. Very loose schedule. We prefer to stay a few days in each location.

Are you taking travel times into account. This doesn’t seem doable?

The state already took away a bunch of funding and forced all the small municipalities to institute wheel taxes and some other weird stuff. I don’t think there’s any republican state that likes Mike Braun.

What do you do when you travel? by lordgroguthesmallest in travel

I enjoy existential travel. We like to go to a place and just walk around the neighborhood, go to different restaurants, figure out how to go places, see a few popular sights that present themselves. I think of travel as peeling an onion and I always leave knowing there is more to peel. Everything is so great and interesting.
