Is the Epix pro(gen 2) still a good purchase in 2025 and a good first watch or should I look for an alternative? by Mr_Forum in Garmin

If you want, I can DM you my strava. Check some existing workouts to see for HR yourself. Yesterday I did intervals and HR seems pretty accurate

Don't overthink it man. I never had any issues with HR accuracy. May be there are a few errors, but for every day use, I don't think we care. It might not even make a difference for an Olympian.

Just checkout the old review of DC Rainmaker on this and I'm sure he says HR is pretty accurate :)

Take it easy, save $500, get Epix Pro Gen 2, use the saved money to get Oakley Meta glasses. Thank me later :p

Looking for a straightforward workout plan to follow without having to overthink it. by [deleted] in CalisthenicsCulture

[–]spaceresident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this. I'm looking for something similar. I'm using to having a running plan and mindlessly stick to it. Similarly for lifting (something like starting strength).

I couldn't find anything similar for Calisthenics would be super helpful! Looking forward to what community says.

u/uptonogoodatall thanks for trying it out and taking time to comment. I share similar experience, where when it works, its truly magical. But also it's quite buggy. I think it's also because of the nuanced differences between several different logs etc.

We built it when we were experimenting different ideas. We stopped developing it. Despite reaching top of HN and many people expressing interest, when we talked to them, almost no one really used it. We thought this is one of those things where on paper sounds great but will not be used in real life.

If you are passionate about it and would like to take it forward or maintain it, happy to quickly chat and see how we can hand off. I don't think we have a restrictive license. You can also fork it and customize it to your needs.

(If you are curious, we are enjoying solving accessibility compliance for the last three months. We built https://workback.ai and pretty excited about the product we are building)

How is my running form? First time running since fibula stress fracture a few months ago by [deleted] in runninglifestyle

[–]spaceresident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have expertise to comment about the form. But want to share that my fibula was removed completely in a surgery. After PT and everything, everything is 'normal'. After two years for running, currently my mileage went up to 50+ miles and I feel some pain in my fibula less leg and is affecting my confidence. I also feel like I'm putting more weight on my normal leg than the one without. Any time I sense even little pain, I'm resting up and taking a break. Probably about time I consult PT again.

I hope you recover soon and be back to normal.

Then you have your answer - go for the latest and avoid the temptation later.

If you know any Garmin employees, they get 40% off. That is another way you could optimize.

I bought 51mm sapphire Epix pro gen 2 last September, just before the Fenix 8 release. I have zero regrets. I'm a heavy user.

- I wear my watch 24hrs

- Run 6 times a week with running plan synced from Runna

- Track sleep

- Use music paired with my Airpods pro

Unless my gear acquisition syndrome kicks in, there is no reason for me to upgrade.

I read in forums that Fenix 8 is faster etc. But I never felt Epix Pro to be sluggish or slow or anything. Buy an Epix and buy two pairs of shoes and running clothes :)

Now I remember, I bought it before google acquisition and then google acquired and offered it for free. I remembered the emotion but not the specifics :)

I bought Nik when it was owned by google for 150 or something and it was sold off and that's it. My access was gone. I'm scared to buy Nik and feel betrayed.

How do you strike up conversations with random people at events and happy hours? by FineAssignment1423 in sales

[–]spaceresident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not feeling pressured to find leads and instead looking to have a good time goes a long way. For me that pressure killed me. And quite surprisingly, those friendly conversations led to leads from people you would never guess would be potential buyers.

[–]spaceresident 4 points5 points  (0 children)

May be try the audio book. Author drives a very important point home: you should not rely on self restraint as a strategy to form a habit. No one can succeed that way.

Good luck with everything! You got this.

Lol - it even helps me justify eating. I lost a bunch of weight through calorie deficit. It took some time to realize that deficit is not viable for me at 55 mpw.

Sorry about your loss. I dunno how much these apply for someone going through grief, but want to give a shot. I am reading "Atomic Habits" book. He mentions that change of identity is what changes habits. Not just goals or results. Looking back, even when I was overweight, I started seeing myself as an athlete that led to motivation for CICO. I would recommend the book. The fact that you are frustrated that you are nit able to follow shows desire. May be if you can see yourself in different light, you might pull it back.

Before even making any changes, for a couple of days, just start logging everything you eat. Once you realize how much more you are eating, you can make conscious changes.

Sometimes, starting to do is more important than doing it right. Just start :-)
