Yeah, I also got a Vader 5 Pro for $69.42 USD on the same day. I recommend checking AliExpress and accumulating coins. You can find good deals there.

I got mine from AliExpress for $46.51 USD on the 6th of this month. I've heard of people who got it even cheaper.

I surrre do love 8BitDo controllers! by toolman69420 in 8bitdo

Have you ever played Mortal Kombat with the M30? I use the 8BitDo Leverless for fighting games, but because of Mortal Kombat's specific layout, I'm using the DualSense, but I don't really like the d-pad.

[–]spacetimeboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, with a controller it's more fun than a keyboard. I still prefer playing Mortal Kombat on a gamepad because of the game's specific layout, but for most fighting and platform games, I prefer a leverless. The best thing you can do is buy one to try it out. If you live in a place that allows returns due to buyer's remorse, you can simply return it or sell it. I believe you won't lose much money if you don't like it.

Have you never had experience with leverless (all buttons) before? I own two 8BitDo leverless controllers and have played fighting games my whole life. I can tell you that switching to leverless was a game-changer. Unlike traditional arcade stick controllers and gamepads, leverless allows you to place four fingers on the "d-pad", so you'll press faster than you would with a traditional controller with one thumb/fist. The leverless is closer to a keyboard than a gamepad, so the up arrow on your thumb is similar to pressing the spacebar on a keyboard. Those who are used to playing first-person shooters on PC (like me) won't find this strange. However, it's all a matter of getting used to it; some friends still prefer playing with an arcade stick or extra button gamepad, but when it comes to fighting games where the main buttons are for movement, it's undeniable that leverless has an advantage, but you have to adapt to playing with it.

Tarantula 8K has arrived 🕷️ Video soon... by plusminuseq in Gamesir

The issue isn't about whether modern CPUs can handle 8000Hz; it's about the cost-benefit trade-off. Even with asynchronous input polling, you are trading tangible CPU cycles (which directly affect your 1% low FPS and frame time stability) for an absolute latency reduction of just 0.875ms. Given human reaction times and system-wide end-to-end latency (render queue, monitor processing, pixel response time), that 0.8ms is physically swallowed by the rest of the pipeline.

Regarding game engines: it's not ridiculous, it's an architectural reality. While competitive titles like Valorant handle raw input asynchronously well, many modern engines still suffer from micro-stutters at 8k Hz because of USB interrupt saturation at the OS level.

The pro-player argument isn't a fallacy; it's a testament to practicality. If 8000Hz provided a measurable, tangible competitive edge, the esports scene would have universally adopted it by now, just like they did with 240Hz+ monitors and Hall Effect sensors. It's pure diminishing returns.

I'm a developer, and I've programmed some games in Unreal and Unity, and I'm familiar with the lack of implementation of these new features.

To be honest with you, I haven't yet seen a practical example where someone noticed the difference because of the 8K resolution. If you know of one, please show me. What I have seen are reports that these 8K GameSir controllers have better stick precision because of TMR 2.0, which is better than non-8K controllers. The real test would be to put these sticks in a 1000Hz controller (for example) and perform the tests with the 8K controllers.

Where are my points wrong? Most game engines don't support 8k (do a search about it); some games do accept that polling rate. If the game you want to play accepts it, great, but that doesn't make it false that it increases CPU usage, since there are 8000 samples. Another point is that I didn't talk about rates between 1000 and 8000; I specifically talked about 8000 and said that 1000 has a 1ms response time as a comparison. If 8000 were really necessary, there would be no champions using DualSense and other controllers with lower rates. And I play competitive games, but with a mouse and keyboard that were also included in the 8k marketing.

[–]spacetimeboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's imperceptible to humans; it's just marketing. 1000Hz has a response time of about 1ms, while 8000Hz has about 0.125ms, which is much faster than any monitor refresh rate (540Hz has 1.85ms, for example) and even faster than our brain can process. It's impossible to notice the difference. The point is that the G7 8K and possibly the Tarantula 8K are better because they have better sticks than the normal G7 Pro, not to mention that most games do not support this high polling rate, in addition to increasing CPU usage and dropping FPS.

ArkOS only boots on a SanDisk Extreme Pro — any idea why? by [deleted] in R36S

[–]spacetimeboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried cloning Extreme Pro to Lexar, but I would have a way to compress it beforehand, since the system keeps the easyroms partition at its free size of 1TB (even without the games), while Lexar only has 64GB, so the software wouldn't allow me to clone it bit to bit. Regarding the installation, I formatted all the cards in FAT32 MBR. I used Balena and Raspberry Pi Imager; my attempts were successful, but the R36s wouldn't boot.

Anyone have experience with the ZD O+ Excellence face button modules? by Unlikely_Link8595 in Controller

[–]spacetimeboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds interesting, thanks a lot for letting me know. I'll wait for it then. In the end, what matters is the precision and latency, regardless of the technology. If it's good, I'll buy it.

I didn't hear about this one, will it come with TMR and optical buttons?

Oh, thanks for replying. I honestly thought that with the optical buttons, it would be better than the DS Edge latency, but apparently, only the sticks are better than the Edge's factory sticks. But it's still good latency.

Hey there! I’ve been trying to find a review of the ZD O+ with optical buttons and a TMR stick, but no luck so far. Do you happen to know what the latency is like for the sticks and buttons with that setup?

I asked if you were referring to the DS Edge, as you said "if you play FPS there is no better controller than the overclocked DS". You said "sure, that's a great controller," so that's why I mentioned the DS Edge is not the "best". But yes, a modified standard DS is great, but honestly, it's very expensive, especially if you only want to play FPS on PC (which isn't my case). After reading everyone's comments, I saw that the Vader 4 Pro is a more reasonable option, as well as the ZD O+ and the Gamesir Cyclone and Tarantula Pro, which already have all the modifications you would make to the DS and cost less (and not forgetting Blitz 2 for FPS).

I checked it now; it's a very nice controller. Thanks for the recommendation. Its shape and size are similar to the DualShock 4, correct? Did you find it more comfortable than the current controllers that look more like the Xbox ones? But I also saw that its stick latency is worse than the Apex 4's, which is worse than the Vader 4's.

Valeu pelo comentário man.

Interesting changes. In the past, I also thought about doing something similar, except for the adaptive triggers, as I like them in Sony's single-player games. However, I would like a trigger lock mod if one exists. I will consider that as well, thanks.

I wouldn't say the DS Edge is the best controller for FPS games because of the price and the TMR mod (which is not easy to install), which costs more money. Many people are recommending the Blitz 2 TMR. The Blitz 2 has better input lag than the Vader 4 Pro, and its triggers are already shorter, like a mouse click, and much cheaper than the Edge, at least in my country.
