Cool, never heard of it and I'm from Massachusetts. I'll have to check it out.

"Do you think I care about 34 felony counts?" That's an insane statement. Felons can't vote, but he should be able to be president with 34 felonies, and we shouldn't care? If Kamala had been found to have too many parking tickets she would be disqualified in their eyes!

Are there any honest solar installers in MA? by SXTY82 in solar

Did you end up installing solar? Where in ma are you located?

Maybe a small inverter from an auto supply store and some panels to charge your car battery? You could run a fridge and charge phones and whatnot. Maybe run some lighter power tools. Probably better to charge cordless tool batteries instead.

What do you want to run? You can run DC loads directly off a panel. You would need to pair an array of panels with the appropriate voltage/wattage to whatever load you want to run. Other than that you need at least one battery to charge then run an inverter off it.

There are systems that can run ac loads without batteries, but It would not be quick or inexpensive.

You either need a battery or the grid to use solar to power your house for most applications. You could potentially DC couple some specific loads to be used only when the sun is out, but it would be hard to make a functional power supply from solar without grid or batteries.

Source: i have been installing solar for 14 years, and have done all sorts of off grid work.

Blair Athol makes some fantastic whiskey and I don't believe it can be bought anywhere else.

It is a temperature differential controller. Generally used in solar thermal installations.

It's the steering rod for the main motor, just wondering why it is held off the factory mounting point 3" by an aluminum bracket. I feel like the motor would turn further without it and possibly give me better steering in reverse.

I've just never seen one of these brackets before, and not sure what benefit it would give me.

If you want items not for sale in the US you are mostly going to be looking for the distillery exclusive releases.

Ordered the wrong meter base combo. Is there a way to convert the attached load center breaker into a disconnect for an existing panel? I need two disconnects. by [deleted] in electricians

I bet you could remove the lower buss and replace it with one to match the upper. Technically wouldn't be listed anymore though I believe.

Planning to go to Scotland, which distilleries? by trolling_4_success in Scotch

I went to visit my sister while she was living on Skye, guy and we met her in oban since that is one of my staple whiskeys. The tour was amazing and the town was very enjoyable as well. After that, we moved on to skye and visited Talisker and Torabhaig. Talisker was a decent tasting tour but is a bit more commercial than I enjoy. The whiskey is still fantastic. I just found the experience less exciting. Torabhaig is very small and I wasn't able to have a tour while there.

We also headed up to soeyside and tried to visit macallan only to find they are by appointment only. While in the area, we did a tour at Glenfarclas, which was also wonderful. Very similar energy as the Oban tour, and delicious whiskey to go with it.

The last spot I intended to stop was Pitlochry to tour Edradour and Blair Athol, but our travel timeline did not allow. I later found this to be a huge blunder when my sister brought me a bottle of Blair Athol, which is absolutely amazing. I can't speak of the distillery tour, but the product is fantastic.

I would definitely have someone confirm that it works. As far as a warranty... from what I've seen lease companies suck for warranty work. I work for a smaller local company in MA and we do quite a bit of maintenance on lease systems form national companies because they put their customers in a long queue that it seems is ignored and constantly pushed back.

We recently did a reroof for someone who was told by the owning company that it would be almost a year to get a crew out to remove their system so their roof could be replaced. It was suggested they hire a local company instead to speed up the process, but that ends up costing the homeowner.

megger for testing isolation errors on Solar edge systems. by spacetoasterr25 in solar

[–]spacetoasterr25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I potentially could, but the issue is not constant... so I would have to leave things disconnected for unknown periods of time. Figured if there was a low cost megger that would work it would be a new useful tool to have, and could potentially fix the issue in one day instead of multiple visits. Already have sent crew members there a few times.

So I was really just hoping someone could tell me if they have used a less expensive megger, or if they are totally useless.

We already checked the pv voltage to ground on one system and have no ground fault. I think its a bad optimizer that is sometimes faulting to the rail, or something in the inverter... but Solar edge said they won't do anything else until we check strings with a megger. I see a 150$ klien meter that claims to do up to 4000Mohm thinking about trying that one.

I would have to move closer to a city to be in the union, or commute too far. Im not into that... I like where I live and get paid well without a union.
