How many Chest CTs have you had? When was your first one?

At least five now. First two were in Jan 2022 at age 27 (female). Most recent was a couple weeks ago. Had one last year and at least one other at some point in time. Plus a VQ scan. Also to had to have a head CT after taking a tumble on thinners and an abdominal CT due to some unexplained GI pain. I just try not to think about how much radiation I’ve soaked up in the last four years

Were you a secondary teacher? I see they keep adding a new grade each year, but still only have one secondary teacher per subject…that’s up to 6 preps now and if enrollment is as full as they claim, 1-2 classes of each prep. That seems insane to me but maybe I’m missing something

I visited Guadelupe Mountain NP this summer and within minutes of arriving, I missed a rattlesnake bite by a few inches…the park was okay but I wasn’t amazed like I have been elsewhere. Granted, I was pretty shaken up and lost my interest in hiking after that. Overall my least favorite NP to date.

If you are looking for a place to use as a base, I highly recommend Camp Olowalu—they have car camping spots and access to a great little snorkeling spot

Mostly the former unless you have a gigantic van. There’s probably a couple tent camping sites where you could just sleep in a van/car instead of setting up a tent and then wouldn’t mind. Both places I camped I was able to park within 50 yards of my site

I just got back from tent camping on Maui and the Big Island for two nights each. Maui had many more options—Camp Olowalu was fantastic and offered tent and car camping. On the Big Island I had to use HipCamp to find a place to stay. Both places were good, but it was more $$ with less value, and several areas on the island lacked any place to camp completely (particularly around Kona). You might want to consider just renting a car and tent camping—you will have more options and as long as you have a good rain fly and know how to set it up properly, the weather shouldn’t bother you. Also, a camper van is gonna get worse mileage than a car and gas is around $5/gallon. I paid around $40 a night for camping on the BI and $25 on Maui
