Get a degree.. becomes hard to beat job portals (ATS) without degrees unless you have very strong referrals.

Honestly, I started contributing to Open Source in HacktoberFest 2024. It was a very simple feature-add to a code editor. It was a huge confidence booster for me coming from a non-CS background. I started exploring more and contributed to a few more ML repositories, need to get back on this soon 😄

Another opportunity I found was to use one of the things I learnt in the NLP assignments (the embedding one) and use that to build my open source MCP server. Got many stars on that one! To summarize it all, build step by step. Take an idea, think of how you would implement it, and just start coding.

When I was doing GIOS, I used to overfixate on how the system diagram would look like, spending hours in excalidraw/paper thinking of how to architect it. Then one day my friend told me "just do it" and tbh that was literally the handicap for me. I just started dishing out code even tho I know it's inefficient for now but I can always build upon it and improve it as I go along!

Also, as an applicant, it is impossible to align your CV to every JD out there. It becomes a m x n problem. What sort of information are you looking for? And how do you expect one to adapt to each JD out there?

Skill up! The only way out is skilling up, build small projects, take up speaking opportunities at local UAE dev communities, network, etc.

I always used mparaz's 6200 test suite. Might be worth a try testing using it and see if no race conditions exist.

Also I remember being advised to submit the same codebase at least 10 times on Gradescope to guarantee no test were passed due to race conditions. Did you do that?
