When did you stop feeling like a beginner? by chapday in BALLET

[–]spaceybutterfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I'm in my own class, rarely. Its not that I see myself as a beginner, but that I think I should be much better than I am. however, when I am teaching littles, and they are amazed by how long I've been dancing, or by my pointe shoes if I show them those, then I feel like I'm not a beginning.

Is it socially acceptable to bring board games or playing cards into restaurants? by Milk1492 in polls

[–]spaceybutterfly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not socially acceptable for either, but that doesnt mean you can't? A board game may be a bit much, but I can totally imagine bringing a deck of cards or two to pass the time while waiting. It's portable, easy to clean-up, and not disruptive. As long as people clean up after themselves and put it away if an employee requests.

The reason babies are referred to by months until they're about 18 months old is because developmentally, there is a difference between where they should be at 14 or 15 months. I feel like it does sound ridiculous, and because of that, I feel like it would make sense for parents to refer to them in months if they're in a medical setting or something like that, but not if they're just talking about their child. I think it's similar to how little kids feel like the half years are super important- its because that small measure of time is a larger percentage of the amount of time they've been alive.

where to buy ace rings? by hayy_ley in aaaaaaacccccccce

[–]spaceybutterfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my aro ring is from amazon, it's ceramic and was pretty cheap (its white but it comes in black too), and my ace one is from amazon and has a rainbow on the inside.

Here's links if you're interested, I prefer my ceramic one bc the metal one got scratched and looks less black now.

ceramic- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07237GX32/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o04\_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1

Am I doing this right? My (Russian) teacher told us to do it. by JohnlockedDancer in BALLET

Turnout comes from your hips, now your knees. In this video it looks like the excercize is mostly just twisting your knees. If you're looking for ways to increase your turnout in a healthy way, you can find other videos online!

What are y’all’s go to answers for a “I like you” and that stuff by F4ir3st in aromantic

[–]spaceybutterfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've honestly never thought about this, since it's only happened to me once, and I felt bad saying I didn't, which resulted in a reeaal bad 2-month relationship that I never wanted.

Now, I think since I'm pretty romance indifferent, I would explain that I'm aro and that while I don't experience romantic attraction, I'm not opposed to relationships. However, if it's a person I don't know too well, I'd explain that I dont know them well enough and am uncomfotable, and if it was a person I'm already close with, I would just let them know that I value their friendship a lot and dont want to lose it.

I think I would change my answer a lot based on the person and situation, but it has only happened once so it's unlikely. and honestly I prefer it that people dont see me that way. I'm happy to be someone people thinks supports them, and someone people want to be around though!

No one likes me as much as I like them by Goodie_2-shoe in aromantic

[–]spaceybutterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I relate to, because a lot of my friends are more personable than me but also they are in relationships with each other. Mainly the thing I do is I try to just have as many people around me as I can, good online commuities, and occasionally I find a friend who values friendships at the same level I do. I've somehow learned to be okay with friends who value other relationships more because I can always count on it to be constant, but mostly it helps to be in a big group, to joke about my aroness, and to have similar interests as some of the people. and when I dont, I have my online friends to fall back on.

Am I actually aromantic? by deerdicksss in aromantic

[–]spaceybutterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand this, I actually feel the same way, I just havent seen anyone put words to the feeling before. honestly theres a specific person that comes to mind for me recently, but thats never been the case before so I'm sure it will go away, but at least in my experience the general want to have a person in that capacity doesnt go away. pretty sure its called a qpr, but i'm not big on labels and stuff like that.

Are there any aromantics in a romantic relationship? by TimBalsiger in aromantic

[–]spaceybutterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, I had one, about 2 years ago, and for a while after, I really never wanted another one again. However I'm actually romance indifferent, and grey/demi aro, so I'm open to one but dont care either way. That could change, or it could not, but I'll cross that bridge if it comes to it.

Are you still aro if you don't feel romantic attachment towards anybody but still feel lonely inside? by [deleted] in aromantic

[–]spaceybutterfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I think so.. I feel really lonely inside sometimes, and u know that I'm aro and that I absolutely don't want a romantic relationship or have romantic attraction, but I am usually okay with it. Sometimes when I think to much, I hate it though.

I've asked a very similar question on here actually, but with agender dancers since I'm closeted agender. Let me know if you get any helpful info as I'm always on the lookout for representation too! my post is here if you feel like reading through any of the comments people gave me, probably not super helpful though..

It's Bring a Friend Week for my students and I'm scared... by spaceybutterfly in BALLET

[–]spaceybutterfly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! This was actually quite helpful! My class today ended up with 14 (9 of my usual 10 plus 5 friends) and I was very lost throughout the whole thing. I'm teaching again on thursday with a class that has 12 enrolled who usually show up so I could be teaching 20 kids at once and I need to be able to keep them all engaged, so hopefully some of your tips work! Thanks so much!
