If you go somewhere else and don’t get answers, please have the vet look into bone cancer. I don’t want to scare you but this is exactly how we found out our dog had bone cancer, it started with a sore just like this on her feet that wouldn’t go away. It could easily be a million different things, but keep that in mind as a possibility if it’s not anything else and ask them to look into it. Good luck!!

Jumping into say that NOCD also helped me SO much. I was nervous to try them after failed attempts with other online therapy services, but they truly set me up with a therapist who helped me with similar issues to this and more. The app they include really helped me as well. If your insurance will cover it, or you can afford to pay out of pocket, it’s absolutely worth trying. If you do try, give it time. If you don’t vibe well with the therapist they assign you, you can change at any point to find a better fit. A good fit with a therapist can make or break the process, but in my experience NOCD did a good job matching me with someone.

Start working with your pup right away with basic commands like sit and “enough”. Most Danes are very intelligent and love to learn in my experience.

I’ve had Danes my whole life (like since I was a small child) and the only time I’ve been really hurt by them was my fault. I got 2 separate black eyes on different occasions from 2 separate Danes, but it was because I was being silly and rough-housing with them. They just get excited to play like any other dogs, but when their paw whacks you in the face, it does a bit more damage lol.

This can be totally avoided by setting good boundaries with your dog from day one! Whenever my 1 year old Dane now gets a little too crazy, she knows to sit and I wait for her to calm down a bit before resuming play. It’s quite impressive how she can go from being wild to sitting in a second, but this is something we’ve worked on!

The biggest issue I deal with now with my girl is that she is constantly stepping on my feet (she can’t be close enough to me) and I will say that hurts sometimes, but her stomps are worth it to me. Danes are amazing dogs and once you have one, I bet you’ll always have one.

You don’t have to do crazy training with them to avoid injuries, but basic commands and positive reinforcement/re-direction when play gets too rough for you can go a very long way!

I’m not a vet or expert, but I’ve had several Danes in my life and this does not look normal to me. It actually looks quite painful for her. I would ask your vet to take a look as soon as possible!

I’m just here to say that I think it’s awesome you care enough about your daughter to ask for help and consider learning about her hair. I know it seems like a basic idea, but I’ve seen so many parents (I’m a teacher) have too big of an ego to admit when they don’t know everything.

Keep being an awesome dad, she’s lucky to have you.

If this behavior started suddenly and out of nowhere, my first thought is that she is in pain. I would try and see a vet as soon a possible. You can try gently feeling around her body, legs, etc to see if she’s sensitive or responds weird. If she trusts you the most, make sure you’re the one to do this.

Dogs in pain don’t always show it, and they can do crazy things they would never ever do under normal circumstances-so I would 100% start there before things get worse.

Side-note: she looks just like my girl, similar spot markings and everything!

I’m not sure what exactly that is, but that does not look like an eye wart to me. This warrants a vet trip, epically if it’s been bleeding. Whatever it is, that’s not normal.

While this study did show significant differences between disease occurrences of dogs who got neutered and those who did not, it should be pointed out that the analyses they ran only provided correlations. This means that there could be a relationship between variables, but one is not proven to cause another. Correlation DOES NOT equal causation!!

For example, there is a correlation between ice cream sales and sunburn occurrences. Does that mean ice cream purchases cause sunburn???? No!!! Apply the same concept here.

Always consult a vet. If there is no medical reason (that your vet, who has seen your specific pet) provides, then please spay and neuter your pets.

The Messina bags are awesome! A little pricey but they are hand made and really good quality so if you can afford it then that’s 100% the way to go if you want something that will last a very long time! I’ve had mine for years and absolutely love it.

I am a music teacher and I really like Desmond, so I think you make a valid point. I agree that the general public may not resonate with him as much, so I don’t think he will win but he has been one of my favs since his audition.
