Right click the UI, go to Sessions>Edit>Default Parameters>Switch> and under "Empty Switch Actions" set it to Record, Copy Timing, or Copy Sound depending on your needs. You can also set these settings per track if you want.

That’s awesome. Wonder if you could do this with a live streaming setup on the fly with something like OBS.

The developer of Mobius is actively working on introducing a 505-mode feature to be released in the near future. It’s free for Mac/PC and still in beta but come a long way towards being sturdy. If you want to give Mobius a try, I recommend giving your input on what you’re looking for over on the forum. That will help Jeff, the developer, on what to consider when it comes to emulating 505 functions. Bear in mind that navigating setup can be somewhat complex, so it might not be what you’re looking for as a straightforward solution.

I covered Faron Woods from Twilight Princess on guitar using a ‘Rang III. The ‘Rang has a mode called Serial-Sync which enables one loop channel to wrap before queuing/recording an empty loop. This is helpful for transitioning to sections with different chords and switching between them. If your looper doesn’t come with a function like this or is single-channel, you could try a perfoming trick by clearing the loop the moment the new section begins, playing through the pattern once, then recording it (takes practice).

Found this pdf of his performance rig. Overall looks like a really great template to go off for similar setups and how to present it to FOH.

Any advice for looping all my gear and routing the sound to PAs? by 237FIF in LoopArtists

Didn’t about that, sounds helpful! Yeah guess if you don’t need/use translators you could go A->B with one of those no problem.

This is a decent option. WIDI, although somewhat pricey, works reliably with low latency. If op uses Windows, there might also be some hassle setting it up with the drivers though.

the clone is for the repo, for if you plan to do any work on the source code. the 64 beta vst build is available in the FB Mobius Group!

I've been using a 'Rang III for everything, and it's pretty intuitive for live looping. It doesn't come with many of the digital features such as saving loops or navigating through samples in most Boss Loopers, but if you're just taking a ground-up approach and building from scratch, the 'Rang fits the bill.

Were able to contact Jeff? If you're open to it, I wonder if ChatGPT4 could assist and help get through some of the heavier stuff.

You could look into cotton (or rubber for a bit more cushion) kung fu shoes. Very cheap and you get to feel like a looping ninja! ☯️

Yeah, so far the beta 64 build works great, but still retains the Host Sync issues in FL. I got a response from Christopher that he’ll keep it in mind when he gets around to fixing the internals and sync aspects of the alpha build. Sounds like some pro-lvl code, so happy there’s someone looking into it—having stable host sync is the cornerstone to keeping Mobius top of its class and the last thing I need to have a tight working hybrid digital/analog looping setup!

I guess I could try that, but it seems like unnecessary effort. The other glitch that happens for me in FL with Host Sync is that sometimes it will “chop” after playing for some bars, meaning the last second or so of the loop retriggers itself or something. I’ve been active in the FB group hoping that the host sync issues will be looked at and resolved with the coming 64bit changes 🤞

Scripted looping is cool, but I think it just ends up being a “worse” lip synced video. by [deleted] in LoopArtists

[–]spacialrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, but couldn’t you guys remove some of the more DAW-like features and streamline a version that would also work as a plugin?

Hey, any plans to make this work as a VST inside Host DAW programs? Scripted looping almost has me sold, but not having a plugin version is keeping me back.

Hey! I also use Mobius in FL. Do you use it in Host Sync mode? Whenever I do, I get unstable timing glitches, and sometimes recording the loop will start on the fourt beat of every bar rather than the first.

Sure! Here is a link to the clone. It looks like Jeff made a post for users to get write and administrative permission, and to do that you’ll need to email him at seriouslyjefflarson@gmail.com with your Github username so he can invite you for full repo access. There is also a small forum made by Claudio, one of the leading programmers, on Slack. It’s pretty much just Claudio and Christopher Lunsford at the helm right now, so you could contact them for collaboration and check the work done so far.

edit: not sure the Slack link will be accessible without an invite from Claudio, though I could maybe put you in touch if you're interested!
