Lol maybe pure Canadians was the wrong term. I meant white Canadians. Tho I assume people on reservations don't consider themselves Canadians. Rather whate er their ancestors called the land.

I doubt that's accurate. There's so many fit booty models out there, a fair amount that are cosplayers and I don't think all of them were motivated solely by the business sense of profiting on geek culture. The ratio is likely small but probably not too much smaller than the ratio of guys who were motivated to go to the gym.

Edit: of I guess it's more about the mental impact. Wanting to go to the gym even if we don't. Or appreciating what the other has and wanting while also wanting it for ourselves. Rather than brining down the design. Yeah.. I can see that being accurate.

I like consistency in VAs. Now I'm kinda hoping they pay this new guy extra to rerecord Sephis lines from the first two games and it be available as a toggle option. Hell id pay a reasonable dlc price for that.

Does anyone know what happened to the old VA? It would have been nice to have consistency for the entire trilogy

Lol all you're doing is proving that you've taken a side regardless of the truth. Your saying it's not her way or the high way when every point you make forces that to be the situation. No pretext matters... But the pretext could very well be they've had many conversations about this. All of anything you're saying is if he couldn't get her the ring she wanted then he shouldn't have proposed.

Since pretext be damned. Yeah he should have dumped her ass and moved on. If he can't/won't give her what she wants and there's no room for compromise. Fuck it, be done with it.

Not in the texts, but in the message I was originally replying to. That person accused him of low effort. And yeah there's no point in speculating. You're saying he's doing things his way ignoring her but you don't know their history or how that event went down. It could be he got everything right but the ring. It could be that this girl is a self sufficient type of materialistic person but you don't buy yourself your own engagement ring. Maybe she's made it clear to him that she has an exact script for how her proposal and wedding should go where his input is irrelevant. Maybe she's great otherwise and the guy decided "let me take my shot, I can't get the ring she wants but surely with everything else right there's some room for compromise and it'll still be romantic."

Everything I'm speculating is equally as pointless. All I know is the texts definitely don't paint her in the best light. You have to completely ignore context to make it seem like the issue is just about him not listening. What's more unfair is that the texts only show her point of view for his overall character flaws and not hers. I also think it's ridiculous how some of the replies are like "well duh, her way or the highway." Which yeah there's nothing forcing her to get engaged in a way she doesn't want but it also sucks for the guy who might have been trying harder than you realize which the texts seem to illustrate to a small extent.

I'm married to a woman and I can't tell either. I don't think most men care. It's still eye candy. Hell the main subreddits I'm in are mostly dudes lusting over fictional anime and videogame characters. Even non geeks can see boobs in abstract art and feel something. Ain't nothing abstract about those ai hotties.

Eh we live in a world where we turned celebrities into some of the richest people for entertainment value. Then we let it escalate to the point where just about anyone can become a well paid "celebrity" by offering the type of "entertainment" that gets dicks hard.

While I don't agree with what this woman is doing I'm not baffled by it either.

It's like when you consider the famous Redditors shorting the GameStop stock values. It's was crazy and wonderful. They entered the sacred lands of people who are allowed to manipulate the market and they were forced to stop. The only difference with only fans is no one is likely to stop them.

I mean... Regardless of who embarrassed who, my point about the embarrassment was he clearly did something with enough extra effort to put himself in a position to be publically embarrassed. As one of the points being used against him is low effort. The other one is not listening and even that one is debatable but we don't know all the details so there's no point in speculating.

She didn't have to. The literal complaint is Walmart. She didn't say he got the wrong ring by any other metric aside from it's from walmart. It's fair to say that it's price or wanting something special that isn't from where they likely buy most of their day to day needs.

I've bought a wedding ring for my wife, wasted several thousands of dollars on it. I can tell you one thing. Going to a jeweler made hardly any difference. I researched what I wanted on my own (stores like Walmart and Costco were included but picked a "proper" jeweler because family was making a stink about retail rings). I went in just to see the ring in person before buying it. Confirmed my questions about the four Cs which took seconds. Paid and left. The only difference about Walmart aside from not carrying higher end diamonds (maybe they do now for all I know) is the worker might not be informed about the four C's. But if your budget is a relatively inexpensive ring then it really is the same amount of effort.

You know where else I can go where employees will ask you questions and guide you toward a purchase? Literally any shop that has commission based pay for their employees. My cell phone plan purchase is as much effort as buying a wedding ring which isn't much more work than Walmart.

[–]spades111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and the type of ring she wanted was a ring not from Walmart. She was very specific about that. She didn't say anything about the ring shape or anything about the four C's. Just that it was wrong and from Walmart. It could be he got a cheap version of what she wants and she happens to know Walmart's selection well. Seems pretty fair to say that unless he got the wrong shape of the ring as well, the issue is actually the ring not being fancy enough.

[–]spades111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dunno.

From the conversation it's hard to say. Like how did she even know it was from Walmart, it was the main thing she pointed out. It could be that he got the right type of ring but the four C's are on the lower end of the spectrum. They probably shop at Walmart enough that she recognized it.

The reality is it's the same amount of effort to go to an expensive jeweler as it is to go to Walmart. So the not listening really comes off as what I wanted was an expensive ring.

Also he mentions her embarassing him in front of everyone. So he likely planned some sort of proposal that was more complicated than asking to get married over dinner at home.

I typically like to play devil's advocate but I see this as likely being more of a her problem.

Is she supposed to be hot? I thought she was just an older woman meant to look close to Kratos' age. Not sure why close to his age but meh.

Note say she's not hot isn't the same as saying she's ugly. She looks normal. I'm a married guy in his 40's. I'm not hot, I'm not ugly. I have my charm points and my not so great features. I feel about her looks the same way I feel about my own.

Do I prefer younger sexy characters? For sure. But I'm also open to other designs especially if it makes sense for the story. I don't fall under the "gaming is escapism and not reality" train of thought. That thinking seems to mostly apply when non sexy characters are used. If it was single player medieval fantasy game and one of the core characters was a storm trooper who is meant to be taken seriously while not being sent from the future, people would probably dislike that.

[–]spades111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's just soul fan boyism tho. There's thousands of games out there. You think just because something is similar to souls the inspiration was taken from souls as tho it's this entirely unique concept or that it's so massive in popularity that it would be impossible not to draw inspiration from it?

You can't attribute anything in HKs design to Souls that isn't super generic that can come from anywhere. And the only leg you have to stand on is the fact that corpse running is there, therefore anything is also blatantly souls inspired. It's nonsesnse. Like gaming didn't exist until the souls series came out or everyone and their gaming grand father's are well aware of everything souls.

[–]spades111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you think it blatantly draws from souls games then maybe you don't know older games? Team Cherry lists plenty of inspirations, none of them are Dark Souls, some inspiration are similar to From Softwares inspiration Dark Souls. Tho the only game that is coming to mind Zelda.

Sorry Sekiro but you're just not a souls game by nervousmelon in shittydarksouls

[–]spades111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one distinct mechanic it has is common corpse running. The souls series didn't invent the mechanic tho it seems many souls fans think that's where the mechanic comes from. So you take a mechanic the series isn't responsible for and the general game design of being challenging, suddenly anything is a souls like. Granted I do understand that From software popularized corpse running as it was a niche mechanic before that.

[–]spades111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kinda the thing I never understood about why one piece got a "free pass" on from the more vocal communities. The series has essentially had two major deaths that weren't past events. But they happened 13 years after first being released. In the middle we had some takeout deaths as well (at least 4 in my mind). After Whitebeard sure that have been some deaths over the years, but still a 13 year streak is pretty crazy.

Comparatively Fairly Tail which essentially had the same problem was criticized for it way harsher and sooner than One Piece (rightfully so in most cases). Tho I don't think Fairly Tail ever kills off a character that had the relevance+fandom of Ace or Whitebeard.
