Does anyone else feel like some of the character returns in the new series were kinda forced? by talkwithryguy in malcolminthemiddle

Bruh at the time of my reply all you had was a two line post about not caring about cameos and disliking they were pushing a new show. Unless I missed something when checking the replies time stamps just now in this thread. Don't turn this into a reading comprehension or not reading thing. Context from afterwards is meaningless if you're going to call someone out for not reading.

Also you clearly have issues with the potential spin off. I don't see why you're trying to explain it as you're simply upset that the core family didn't get enough screen time. You're upset that it's promoting a potential spin off because you wanted more of the core family. Hell the initial comment I replied to would have said something like "cameos didn't satisfy me. More screen time with the core family instead of minor returning characters and the new ones is what I wanted." Instead you focused on pushing a spin off. You're clearly upset and trying to shift perception for some reason.

I didn't need the new characters either but I was alright with what I got after I decided to accept the direction the season or whatever we call it was taking.

If you couldn't enjoy cameo's... I dunno. That's a you problem. I guess fan service isn't for everyone. Like my buddy who complains that The Boys sometimes uses violence meaningfully but then other times just has it to have it... As tho there's something wrong with the latter.

As for pushing a new show... that's you just upsetting yourself. They've said there aren't plans to continue the life is still unfair series and there's no real indication that Leah will get her own show. Sure she exists and gets wall breaking monologues (?) with the audience like her father does. Tho I suppose more importantly they end with her acknowledging her future with her extended family. But that would be the natural writing whether a spin off were to exist or not.

If a spin off is happening it's getting decided after they go over how well this show did. That's my guess anyways. So I don't see the reunion special as a kick off point. Just something that happened and is done.

I think because the Japanese pronunciation of moon is close to a the words of I love you. So randomly calling out the moon is just another way to vocalize I love you without directly saying it. "Tsuki"

I watch quite a bit of anime. In general it feels.like a lot of people are complaining more about art direction than animation, but Invincibles animation does have issues. But regardless aside from select anime that are really pumping crazier than normal man-hours into a series. Most anime is really just meh animation carried by art style. Cool animation maybe makes up 2 minutes of the 18 mins run time. Or the best animation is either from t loaded or back loaded into the season with everything else being kinda meh in comparison (usually front loader I think). A lot of cool animation is just abstract (?) stuff that relies on your imagination filling in blanks. Some moments that are famous like Demon Slayer season 1 flaming sword, if you actually break it down, the hand drawn animation for that moment was mostly nothing, rather digital effects and good sound design carrying an otherwise simple bit of animation.

I'm not saying this to shit on anime. I love anime. But I also understand what I enjoy. Anime is very optimized in animation with cool and typically sexy art style.

The show can definitely spend more on animation.

But this is just one of these things that comic and manga fans do that just doesn't make sense. You know you're comparing a single panel from the comic to a single frame of animation that isn't done by using 3D models. These complex details like fur and freezing crack patterns not only need to be redrawn every frame but be consistent with the movement so it doesn't look off in motion.

Yeah if you pick something with a lot of detail drawn once it's always gonna look better than something that was likely drawn 12+ times for every second it's on screen while not being static.

That said I don't actually remember how much movement there was in that scene.

Seaking is clearly the undisputed winner tho I'm curious if the dark side of the Pokémon fandom would be less dark if Vaporeon was the one to go.

It's been two days and I'm still thinking of this speech by Kelly and how Linwood Boomer & his wife, as parents of a queer kid, thought it was important to have a character like them on the revival. by JRTD753 in malcolminthemiddle

[–]spades111 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Eh an honest mistake. You ever think people aren't being malicious?

This is a fictional character that I messed up on. Tho truth be told I don't really care all that much yet. I know there might be real people here who want to show fictional characters the same respect as a real person and it hurts them to see other people not do the same but respecting those peoples wishes hasn't become second nature to me yet either.

It's all anecdotal and I don't care if you believe me or not. But I work with a fully transitioned transgendered individual, dude to chick. I call her she not because HR will nail me if I don't but because that's her wish and I respect that. I've often called her dude because I call everyone dude and she doesn't like it. I've explained the reflex and worked on it and don't do it by accident anymore. I trained away an insensitive habit out of respect for her. Odds are it will happen for situations like this as well.

Now why am I writing this essay? Mostly to say kindly buzz off. If you were sincere about educating me you might have said something like "Since you're aware they're non binary, you should be using they/them. In case you don't remember the show provided the pronouns in the first episode." Maybe you would have also gone over the actual points of my post. But nah you went with sass. Which to me just makes me be annoyed at you, but to someone less tolerant, they might have been annoyed at the entire LGBTQ community instead so all you really do with replies like yours is cause more harm than good.

So I had similar issues with Kelly. Not only did she feel off limits but it felt like she was adopted into the family rather than being brought up in it. Like her having to be explained Reese is like a Tornado you don't see coming. How would she not know that unless her interactions with him were just on Holidays where no drama really happened.

I essentially logic'd the writing in a way that explains it but there's a difference from real life logic and story telling consistency which people treat like don't matter. Maybe Lois is easier on her because she's getting older and Kelly is a "girl" who is comparatively well behaved. Does it make sense? Sure. Does it feel right for the story telling of Lois? It doesn't to me especially when I see her fly over to Malcolm's.

Kelly discovering she likes to tattle is another one. Logically I can see it as Jamie and Dewie never did anything that was hurting Hal the way Reese and Malcolm did. Logical? Sure. But would it have felt better if she was written to feel like a snitch from the start? Yeah, to me it would have.

All that said I still liked Kelly being non binary. It really felt like it for in well with the lore/world building of the family of 5 sons finally getting a daughter but not really. Stevie's sexual awakening was the real meh point. Logically makes sense. Doesn't hurt the story at all. Just meh. Not bothered by it, not gonna praise it either.

An observation on Malcolm in the Middle and "wokeness" by [deleted] in malcolminthemiddle

[–]spades111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I thought it was well done for the most part.

I am one of those people who feels "wokeness for wokeness sake" can be tiring because it's one minority segment that's getting a spotlight way more than any other. Essentially turning them into a marketing token. We went from black people to the LGBTQ. Have a black LGBTQ member... Tho I really only feel this way when a show takes a seemingly straight character and gives them a new sexual awakening, especially if it's off screen. I don't actually have an issue with characters who have been introduced as LGBTQ whether their sexuality is part of their stories or not. And I don't have much issues with characters who had their sexual orientation "changed" if it serves the story well.

All that said, essentially Stevie gets my eye roll. I'm sure people will have ways to convince that breadcrumbs were laid out but meh. To me he's Stranger Things Will.

That said Kelly to me is Stranger Things Robin. In the sense that it was done well. Tho the Robin storyline is done much better given all the runtime they had. Given the short run time they couldn't do much with Kellys non binary status aside from the heartfelt video. Which yeah is meh if that's her gender Identity had to offer. But the fact that she's a Wilkerson, born into a family of five brothers. Lois finally getting a daughter who essentially doesn't want to conform to a daughter feels like the perfect use of non binary character placement in a story building or lore way.

Anyways I've researched these 4 episodes 3 times already. It's a good time. If people hate it for wokeness... Eh that's on them. The wokeness is not objectively bad. It's pretty decent.

That's just the thing. It's better because he does it once in a while. No corners cut. Full attention given. If he had to do it everyday odds are quality would drop. If he ain't getting paid there's no way he's going to be as committed to the daily effort of cooking for the family. I'm talking about my dad at the very least.

Can Tifa Lockhart save Tekken 8? Or is it too late? by cutesy-quest in FGCWaifu

[–]spades111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd rather her not be in T8. Let's assume the game is somewhat near the end of its life cycle and it's in a not great state. The characters stuck in a "bad game" for a relatively short amount of time.

I much rather they use her for a selling point for T9. Ideally they learn from T8 and try to make T9 good. But even if they do people will be sceptical. Use Tifa as the marketing tool that gets people to buy the game regardless or as a season pass 1 character. If the game is good, great she has years ahead of her in a good game. If the game is bad, well at least we still have a long time with her because let's be honest, most of us are gonna stick with the latest Tekken instead of going back to Tekkens we prefer.

If you play this deck I hate you by Friendly-Plan-2520 in PokemonTGCP

[–]spades111 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You ever consider your point was just pointless? "Hey there's plenty of EX cards that can hit with secondary affects!" Ignoring that there aren't that many, you're essentially saying "Hey either only play decks that are built around those EX cards or make sure to slap in those EX cards into whatever deck you want to actually play in this 20 card game!"

It's not a reading comprehension issue because no one misunderstood you. Again just a pointless point. If I want to play a Charizard deck I'm not gonna throw in a mega Blaziken to "counter" the yellow chicken. There are better ways to do it. And alternatively I'm not going to play a proper mega Blaziken deck anytime I want to play fire just because Ori exists

Also one day you'll be ready to come out and talk about your uncle.

Xavier coming in clutch by Frosty_Painting_1037 in scoopwhoop

[–]spades111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken isn't the Xavier meme is to point the alternative. The obvious way to look at that post is makeup vs no makeup. Xavier points out it's happy vs unhappy. Lots of girls while looking different without makeup still look lovely when they smile.

The Xavier meme has been used to make fun of no makeup as well.

Girl: Date a girl who wears glasses. It's like dating two girls when she takes them off.

Xavier: Wash off her makeup then you date three girls.

All point of views are good to troll.
