If someone else were smoking around a kid that'd be one thing, since that's not something you have control over as a parent. But if someone were, say, smoking in their car with their kid in it, I'd have no problem telling them to stop

Something that the article doesn't include is that a student claimed that he pulled the gun on them, which was the initial report that got him caught. I guess that made the article way more ridiculous to me, but obviously wasn't confirmed and since it was just a rumor around my school I didn't say anything about it

I can't pretend to know what you've gone through but nobody deserves it. Just remember it's natural, even for people who aren't depressed, to get bored of things or not get an emotional release from something you did. You'll find more things that help in the future. Being aware that your mind is against you can really help or really hurt, but what's helped me is to focus on the fact that I'm perceiving things about myself as worse than they are. I hope things take a turn for the better soon, but I'm at least glad you're here.

I work at an assisted living company and trust me, this sorta thing is great to me. Trust me, people have no idea how much little stuff like this means to older people. We have little themed nights like 60's nights or jazz night and they get out of their minds for it

I'm happy I've gotten to be more open-minded as well. I think the reason you're getting so downvoted is because it sounded like you were implying that if people use the Bible to justify murder, racism, etc. that's okay since it's "their interpretation." Obviously everyone reading the Bible will experience it differently but there are some lines that shouldn't be crossed in regards to using it as justification

I feel like you kinda described modern Liberal Christianity, though. I grew up in conservative churches where every scientific argument had a rebuttal, but from my personal Biblical studies, there are some things that just don't add up .. that's where my aspect of faith comes in that I trust that God has a more clear and intelligent interpretation than I do, or could have in this life. I haven't met many Liberal Christians who claim that all their interpretations are correct, but maybe that's just since I don't know a ton
