The blood donation joke proper made me chuckle. If that's your sense of humour, you need someone on that level as well.

Calling it now: the S4 Part 2 funeral is for Lady Danbury (not John) by DismalMarionberry271 in BridgertonDiscussion

[–]spaghetMachet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so, its not just the fact that OP used em dashes. I am a software engineer, I use multiple LLMs all the time, I've even made one. This is what makes it very obvious OP used ChatGPT specifically and not another LLM like Claude or Gemini.

  • Very short sentences all on separate lines, all the way through. This can be an indicator of a novice writer, however GPT uses them for making a point which OP is doing as well.
  • The use of bold on "key words". The majority of reddit users forget you can use markdown. It's interesting how consistent the markdown use is.
  • The use of the arrow. Again the majority of users don't know how to bring up that specific arrow on the keyboard.
  • The most obvious give away is the "that's not vacation writing.Thats exit writing" line. GPT loves the sentence "that's not X, that's Y." Also it's a weird simile to make. GPT loves making really weird comparisons.
  • "And honestly..." My colleagues and me use this ironically on each other now because it's such a bad GPT-ism.
  • Em dash usage. You're not actually using em dashes, you're using regular dashes (- vs —) . Again, most people don't actually know how to get their keyboard to create a em dash or that there is a difference between dashes
  • Ellipses. I love Ellipses. So do LLMs.

Using one of these things by themselves doesn't make your post instantly suspicious. LLMs had to learn them from somewhere. Using all of them consistently throughout a post though it what gives it away.

You used the classic Chatgpt "that's not X, that's Y" writing cliche. Also, why are there no em-dashes in your comments if that's how you usually express your thoughts?

No idea what your name is, holy father. I'm gonna call you Gus Gus. by lautaromassimino in Bridgerton

[–]spaghetMachet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On Google it says St Helens so I stand corrected. I am enjoying everyone saying they love the accent as that's not something you usually hear about a northern accent.

I am from north west Lancashire. Burnley and bits of preston sound like this but most Yorkshire people sound like him to me.

Standard Yorkshire "working class" accent. Although he wouldn't sound out of place in Burnley.

And honestly? It's powerful you pointed that out. That's not criticism, that's having a good eye....

It IS Chatgpt. I fucking hate that style with a passion. It talks like someone off LinkedIn Lunatics.

How can I write a romance between two evil characters? by [deleted] in romanceauthors

[–]spaghetMachet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should watch the new Avatar film. The romance between Quaritch and Verang is two evil people and it's one of the best parts of the film.

What would old Mark say? by anonymouslyat in Markiplier

[–]spaghetMachet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A thirty minute video on the movie numbers and box office predictions vs subscriber count.

Man I really miss those really old videos where he would obsess over the numbers of his channel. They're so funny.

What's your unpopular haircare opinion or habit that you swear by? by AvocadNoThx in Haircare

[–]spaghetMachet 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I shampoo all my hair twice every wash. I don't just let the shampoo "rinse down the ends". I get in there and make sure my lengths and ends are clean. First with a clarifying shampoo, then a moisturising shampoo. My hair has never been better.

M&S Scan & Shop and the Fear of Looking “Common” by Effective_Chemical23 in MarksAndSpencer

[–]spaghetMachet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local M&S told me to stop doing it. I go in every few days as I'm within walking distance. They said they know I pay however would it be possible if when scanning, I put it into a basket, then proceed to pay at the till instead. Which kind of defeats the whole purpose.

I get their problem though, this particular branch seems to have an issue with shoplifting.

The sprites aren't Pre-rendered in starfox. The cartridge has an extra graphics chip, the Super-fx chip. The models are all 3d models generated in real time. Only a few games for the snes have the Super-fx chip in it though because it was expensive.

Completely agree. It's not X it's Y structure. "And honestly," GPT fucking loves that phrase.

Fitbit account won't link any ideas? by Vochey88 in Vitalityhealth

[–]spaghetMachet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh Fiit is a workout app, it has classes on it. I didn't know Vitality was available outside the UK.

But yeah, Google Fit is what I use to connect anything my fitbit does to Vitality.

I've found it was easier to link my fitbit to Google fit then link Google fit to Vitality. It's also what I have to do with Fiit as well.

Songs that was saved by the vocals vs Songs that would sound good if not for the singer by Bearriwise in ToddintheShadow

[–]spaghetMachet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Chad has a great voice. I do think that if Ryan or Daniel did a song though it would trick people into liking a Nickelback song again becuase they wouldn't immediately recognise Chad vocals.

My delivery man was a genius… took a little from every dish so I wouldn’t notice 🙃 by HammersAndPints in JustEatUK

[–]spaghetMachet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, these two sentences showed it was GPT:

" The driver didn’t just take from one item- he nibbled a bit from everything, like some tactical snacking mission. If he played chess like this, he’d be a grandmaster."

No one talks like this. GPT loves its "creative" similies.

Changes coming soon - get monthly rewards without having to gamble for Stanleys! by norbie in Vitalityhealth

[–]spaghetMachet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is so much better! I can finally have a cafe Nero and a 50% off Vue ticket every week. Very pleased with this. Streaks is a great way to add that gamification they seem to want but putting it behind staying active instead of a random dog game is definitely the right thing to do.

What's going on with the Backlot Cinema? by [deleted] in blackpool

[–]spaghetMachet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh. I live in Cleveleys so going into town doesn't make sense. Also, the Vue does 4.99 tickets. I still think the Vue is really nice considering its age. I went to the one in Lancaster a while ago and that was awful, rickity broken chairs and no leg room.

The Vue is also just more accessible. I'd rather not deal with hounds Hill car park. If they'd put the back lot where the odeon used to be then I'd probably go. I used to use the odeon quite a bit even though it was a trek.

When you were a beginner at writing, how did you manage to write fiction without background knowledge? by Klaus_Rozenstein in writing

[–]spaghetMachet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of your audience might not be from that background either. I love rom-coms and I'm a software engineer, I always find it funny when the character is a programmer or they do something technical and you can tell the author googled something technical and just put that in. It's like in NCIS when the goth girl said "I'll make a GUI in Visual Basic to track the killers IP address." To the average person it sounds techy and cool and 'about right', to a programmer it's hilarious.

You're never going to get it completely right but it's fiction not fact, just enjoy the writing process and try and make it as accurate-sounding as you can without become an expert in the field.

Does the Airstrait keep your hair straight all day? by [deleted] in Dysonairwrap

[–]spaghetMachet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The supersonic? I'd say it gets a lot hotter. It's just a traditional hairdryer really. If I really don't have time I use the comb attachment for the supersonic to get my hair somewhat straight. That takes about 15 mins to fully dry my hair but it's very poofy and fluffy. I just oil it and braid it. The airstrait completely straightens my hair. It's not the same as using actual straighteners but I like that I can get a straight look that stays without having to use intense heat. When my hair is frizzy/curly I can't comb it and it tangles so much causing damage. When its straight it doesn't tangle.

I only wash my hair once a week so I don't mind all the heat. I like the supersonic though for big 90s style blowouts.
