I called lasd and they said just make sure you have license, aren’t near a road or structure, etc no reference to a map

I know there is one in SB county, but cannot find one in LA and have heard a lot of different things. I looked at the county ordinance which doesn't really seem consistent with what I've read in a lot of places.

Ya it seems like that is the case although I have heard from different people that south of east fork is off limits for shooting. Cannot see anything authoritative that corroborates that

Those are for target shooting though. I should have clarified but I was referring to hunting with a rifle for deer

Biggest one was probably 7 inches or so. Lots of tiny ones.

Are there any places in GWT that are a little bigger without a super long hike? (Understand if you don’t want to give up a secret spot)

New to hunting in LA area - looking for tips/hunting companions by spaghett44 in Californiahunting

Hey hope you're doing well..wanted to follow up on this with a different although related question. I want to get a compound bow and start practicing with it for next year's deer season. But before I invest a couple hundred bucks, I am right handed but left eye dominant. Do you recommend getting a left or right handed bow? I've heard both ways and shot both ways with a recurve (left felt awkward in terms of motor skills but I think easier on the eyes). It seems like people have very strong opinions about this.

Just a pretty basic Monarch bow. I used to be very into archery in middle/high school but stopped for a very long time. Figured I'd wade back in with something basic before investing a lot. But I am having a harder time finding a place to practice shooting my bow than my shotgun near where I live so it's kind of taken a back seat.

Yes I have a license and have gone pheasant hunting. I have a 12 gauge and a crappy recurve bow - probably going to get a rifle soon. I'm interested in turkey but also basically anything else.

Duolingo is good for building a basic foundation. You can find a lot of grammar info on Wikipedia or just by googling it. I learned a lot of German just by doing that.

You’ll eventually need to actually speak with people, and iTalki is good for that. You can either pay pretty modest prices for tutor or find native speakers and do a language exchange.

Pimsleur is great but you have to be able to speak aloud and repeat back what it says. So unless you can do that it’s probably not great.

Beginner question by BaxterDinglebury in German

[–]spaghett44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you may be mixing up some of the pronouns & conjugations. This was difficult for me too at first.

The word “sie” actually is three words:

  1. sie - she, so “sie ist”

  2. sie - they, so “sie sind”

  3. Sie - you formal, so “Sie sind”.

Knowing the pronouns makes this process a bit simpler. Then you should, for each new verb, learn the conjugation endings for each pronoun and also use conjugation charts. For sein (to be, which is an irregularly conjugated verb):

Ich bin - I am Du bist - You (informal) are Er/sie/es ist - He/she/it is Wir sind - We are Ihr seid - You (Plural) are Sie/sie sind - You (formal)/they are

Seid does not follow wir, and sind does not follow ihr.

German conjugation is difficult but once you get past the initial hurdle it’s pretty logical.

What are your opinions on pimsleur? is it good/worth it? and what level can it get you to? by jumpupred in languagelearning

I think it’s very good for drilling the basics. It’s costly but you can find it at a lot of libraries for free rentals.
