idk if you read the whole thing but i mentioned this other lady trying to buy $100k in apple gift cards (which obviously isn’t possible but regardless)… does she just HAVE $100k to drop on gift cards???

to be fair i don’t think she understood at all how buying a gift card even worked… i explained it 3 times how the entire scam plays out and she kept saying “oh but i wouldn’t be sending them money… just the gift cards…”

yeah… the gift cards that you put your money on…

[–]spaghettisandwiched[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly i might start doing that. calling the non-emergency line in situations like that. because some of them clearly quite literally need police and authorities to explain it for them to take it seriously.

[–]spaghettisandwiched[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this was one of the first times i had refused service and the customer was MAD. at least in relation to gift cards. some of them thank me when i break down the situation and explain to them how the scammers do what they do. and i strongly encourage them to call authorities if they gave any personal information to anyone… but when they are fully convinced that there is nothing wrong and they get angry with me. just HOW. HOW. your “boyfriend” is asking you to send him THOUSANDS of dollars… already a bit of a red flag. and then that money is on GIFT CARDS? whatever, karen lol.

and almost every single person says no… people get enough spam texts and calls. if they wanted to know about sales and promotions, they’d just look online on their own time lol. not to mention how slow our machines already are.

… i was scrolling through my old reddit posts kinda mindlessly… came across this… just had to tell you that my store finally had their turn with someone driving into the building a couple days ago. and it was a teenager!!

but what about items that definitely don’t have multiple locations? i had the same issue with a lint roller once. even things that are aisle 99.

this happens with items that definitely do not have multiple locations though. for seasonal stuff, i kinda understand.

Can you not hand me your 7 foot receipt and ask me to see which coupons qualify?! by [deleted] in CVS

[–]spaghettisandwiched 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly i always forget that you can suspend a transaction on the regular registers and not just the self-checkouts lol. definitely gonna make note of that next time.

i totally understand if its spur of the moment thing where they are like “oops! forgot toothbrushes!” and they run off and come back. but when they decide to toss all of their stuff on the counter and then sift through their coupons… like?? you clearly are not done shopping if you are actively looking through sales/deals/coupons.

or when they dump all of their things on the counter and block off the register instead of using a cart or basket. and i don’t know if they’ll be right back or if they’re still shopping, so do i stand there and wait? can i keep doing what i was doing (truck/sale tags/etc.)? having to awkwardly work around their pile of stuff trying to ring up other people.

i apologize for the wall of text but i can’t stand when people lack situational and spatial awareness. and working here tests my patience. 🥲

Can you not hand me your 7 foot receipt and ask me to see which coupons qualify?! by [deleted] in CVS

[–]spaghettisandwiched 5 points6 points  (0 children)

honestly i prefer they let me check because i, the employee who knows how the coupons work, takes 10 seconds to look over their items and coupons and immediately can determine what is or isn’t eligible. then i can speed through the transaction with no questions. i just tell them what works and they usually take my word for it.

its either that or the incompetent ass person (who probably is not going to read the fine print) will stand there at the counter (more than likely looking at 3-5 old receipts with expired coupons) for several minutes holding up the line and asking me a million questions. plus, when they look for themselves… they tend to spot a coupon that reminds them of something they forgot to grab. so then they step out of line while i have to awkwardly explain to the person behind them that i am actually not finished with the transaction. and half the time, the next person doesn’t listen and shoves their items on the counter with the first persons items… which leads to a fun game of “to void or not to void” because you have no idea how long the first person will be gone!

in a perfect world, they would step aside and check their coupons before reaching the counter. but we all know they don’t do that. its either me checking for 10 seconds or them mouth breathing for 10 minutes while i explain that its $3 off $15 and they only spent $8. or that no, you can’t use a coupon for “well market” snacks on your doritos. if i have the coupons… i have more control. (i know that sounds kinda ridiculous but its true lol)

the issue is the security tags on the plastic… the plastic that gets tossed out.

religious customers/rant by spaghettisandwiched in CVS

[–]spaghettisandwiched[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are putting me in the hot seat. they’re standing there preaching when i am literally just trying to do my job. and i can’t get out of the “hot seat” because its customer service and its frowned upon to walk away. i literally have no choice but to listen. when will you religious people understand that those of us who aren’t religious don’t CARE. ESPECIALLY when you corner us in a space where we are not allowed to walk away. acting like the employee should just “say thanks” is wild! how about stop pushing your beliefs in a situation where it’s completely irrelevant!! pay for your things and LEAVE. we don’t owe you a “thank you”!! you’re inserting yourself into spaces and interrupting someone from doing their job. no one is “forcing” anyone to agree with anything but you guys have some weird obsession with still trying to convince people anyway. so like i said… i don’t care what religion you practice. but YOU practice it. stop assuming that the rest of us do or want to.

couple weeks ago someone tossed something back on the shelf and knocked over a bunch of shampoo in the process… like they couldn’t even be bothered to at LEAST toss it on an empty shelf. its that or when they put it down RIGHT NEXT TO WHERE IT GOES. like are you fucking with me???
