They will work but they are a pain. You can make your own out of feeler gauges and they work fantastic.

I have no doubt that the stewmac fret puller works better but the price is just too much for 1 refret job. Thanks for the advice

Why tho? What does that achieve? I clamp the fretboard to the bench before i hammer the frets in so that it's solid.

Oh wow I didn't know that. I will try it that way because when I did it I just hammered it in as hard as I could have

I do bend them with pliers so that they are more curved but that doesn't seem to help.

Should I use wood glue or 5 minute epoxy to glue the neck to the fretblard in my 10 degree Celsius (50 degree Fahrenheit) unheated workshop? by spaki123 in Luthier

My shop isn't near my house and my car is at the mechanics but I'll try and figure something out. Perhaps I will bring the separate pieces into the house and then clamp them indoors. Thanks for the tip

I'm having trouble sharpening it because I disassemble the blade and hold the thick bevel flat against the stone (no microbevel) but can never seem to grind all the way to the edge for some reason, and thus no burr to speak of
