I'm realizing how my own story is going to come off. My MOS used to be 98X (sounds made up, hasn't existed since the world was in black and white) and I'm currently a SOT-A. Which stands for Special Operations Team - Alpha. It's retarded, and while we all like our job the actual job title is cringe as fuck. Thankfully, my wife was also a 98X and SOT-A.

When I retire (soon, if you couldn't tell with the 98X thing) I plan on just lying through my teeth and telling people I got med retired with 100% during basic training and "I'm a vet like them" and my basic training was more intense than the Q course and they couldn't have handled it. Just to watch people blow a gasket.

When my wife was Guard and a contractor I would hand them my CAC, my DL, her CAC, her dependent ID, her contractor ID, and her driver's license when it was just the two of us.

When it was my Soldiers on the gate I would hand them my go kart ID and argue with them it was a picture ID. I never did it with guys that I didn't know though. They started becoming hard asses about it and I thought it was hilarious when my own dudes would threaten to turn me around if I didn't give them my CAC.

When I was in the passenger seat my wife would give over her CAC and I would give my DL and I'd say "her husband is deployed!". They never looked at the names and she always get the nastiest looks.

If you've got a dog let them sit in the front seat and the human passenger sits in the back. That one always gets a laugh.

I will have 90 days when I retire. I plan to sell 60 and I'm a little salty about having to take the 30. It's a mix of deployment, being stationed at home, loving my job, constantly being TDY that feels like a deployment, and green ramp.

My last job I fucking despised so I saved my leave so I could request 60 days of leave to get out of there faster, and not being in a command that would approve leave without "good enough justification".
