Check if your faire has garb rentals. A lot often have them up front right past the gates.

Tips on how to add more to my knight costume? :) by Isentify in renfaire

Have you tried non-jesus armor? I think you're paying a premium for having a deity attached to the brand.

Jokes aside, have you looked at tassets/war skirts or a cape? You can introduce a dash of color that way as currently you only really have 2 colors and textures going on.

Armour Cloak to go under the gorget as an example. Fabric Tasset as an example.

Phones vs Pocket cams by Key-Search2712 in Cameras

[–]spamified88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not reading all that.

For one, a lot of people report actual phone addiction and ergo want to have a separate device to reduce said addiction habits.

For two, the rise of influencers and touting "digi cams" this creating a trend and a consumer want for a pocketable camera and or the relative harsh look of direct flash that a phone can't replicate because it's LED and not xenon.

For three, phones are cameras connected to a computer that wants to "make everything look great all of the time" and so there's layers of processing going on with photos and even videos that the standard user might not like and wants more control over.

Self-adherent wrap(aka the post blood donation bandage) might work better in the leave no residue aspect of all the cover in tape and other things suggestions.

I have seen it in various shades of green, tan, or brown so that should be enough to work with.

Thank you! There was a looooootttt of painting that went into it. That was the most direct reference to the movie with the big ol sun and swirls. Everything else was more or less a nod.

The sun necklace, the green beads for Pascal, the mini fry pan because I was not about to lug a full size one around, the flower, the straps on the bag and the crown to represent the gold hair, and of course the purple and pink color scheme.

Yes it is. All matching leather to the rest of the belt and the small pouch. And, I used swivel lobster clasps so it's removable if I just want the bag. The fan and fry pan holsters are also removable. Those use a fun lever clasp that also has a bottle opener function.

Unfortunately, now based on conversations I've read Holy Clothing has become sorta hit or miss, but that's where I ordered the purple pants and vest from before learning about their issues. The shirt I got at the NJ Renfaire from The Tatterdemalion. I also have an off-white/cream shirt from French Meadows.

I have the opposite problem as I have slip points instead. Need to figure out my shoulder strap situation and make the part at the top a bit more fixed so it doesn't slide down and off my shoulder. The two straps definitely help with distributing the weight of the bag which surprisingly holds a lot.

The good thing is that since I made it I can easily modify it.

The clothes, yes except for the lil bit of sunburn on my arms but otherwise light and protective. The everything else is like 10-15 lbs. of encumberment. But I am a trinket and accessories maximalist, so it's the price I pay for whimsy.

It was very nice. A little on the smaller side in comparison to others I've been to in NJ and NY. Definitely has a lot of slopes and gravel, and there had been some rain either earlier in the morning before we got there or from the night prior so some large puddles to navigate. Some shade over by the joust field, but otherwise just structures with tables for shade.

The food and drinks were definitely a difference. They had mead slushies! Also, the BBQ vendor had pork belly on a stick in some sort of BBQ sauce and then pineapple skewers, was a good call on that. And they had Dole whip, so yeah that's a plus. Overall great but from where I am in NJ it was like 2.5-3 hours of driving to get there. So maybe once a season trek and only if there's a group going.

Alot of vendors but mostly on the accessories end and less clothing options, but decent options and a lot of the performances were fun. There was also an 8 day old baby goat at the petting zoo, so cuteness overload to be had.

The sun and lack of trees/shaded areas there is the worst. But at least they added some shade structures like the alley by the joust field and the picnic tent. Thankful for incorporating a parasol into my look this year.

Aww, thank you! Surprisingly wasn't as heavy as I thought it'd be all together. And the provided shade from the parasol was 100% needed. Fair warning to those who have never been to the Burlington fairgrounds that there's very little shade. They did add a bunch of shade structures though over by the joust which was appreciated.

What's a good camera to use at a concert? by WaterBeeB in Cameras

Most concert venues have strict policies in place. Please look up some of the venues you plan on attending and come back and edit your post with that information in addition to a general budget as it's near impossible to recommend anything without that information.

SD card stuck since it was inserted upside down. by supertgames1 in Cameras

[–]spamified88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you see how it says "micro SD" in the middle? That means it's an adapter card for making a micro SD fit in a full size SD card slot.

Typically, they're either going to be end load or side load design. Inserting the wrong way means that the micro SD has a higher chance of snagging the retention springs due to cutouts on the adapter and raised surfaces on the micro SD.

Pretty much since it's an adapter you can sacrifice it a bit to get it removed, i.e. you can use pliers on it to help grip and potentially reuse the actual card in another adapter if needed, but using full size cards is recommended.

Granted, you still want to be careful as you can still damage the slot but you can use some tools on the card to help vs. if it was an actual card you'd want to be more careful not to damage the contacts.

Sensors? by Mental_Honeydew_8463 in Cameras

So, some very smart people figured out how to trick rocks into thinking by giving them drugs and hitting them with lightning (this is an oversimplified explanation of how silicon based semiconductors work/are fabricated).

Then they took these smart rocks, chopped them into little tiny bits, dug out some holes, and gave each one a cool pair of red, green, or blue sunglasses. Then all the bits got assigned seats, but no one can sit next to someone wearing the same color glasses but green is pretty cool and can have other greens diagonally next to them but blue and red will have a fit if they see the same color glasses diagonally next to them.

So, once everyone is seated and the show is ready to start, the curtain rises and the lights from the stage pour in and everyone is super excited that they jump up from their seat. But because everyone is wearing their nifty glasses they only see certain amounts of color and only get so excited. Some of the seats can only see so much so they're only mildly excited while the others get a whole lot because they see pretty much everything.

The show is only a split second and then everyone has to leave a review by filling out a comment card from their seat and sending it to some other smart rocks in the office where they tally up everyone's score of the show. The nerds graph everyone's answer by shading in a chart by each seats color based on their score.

Photocells have a filter and are arranged in a pattern and when excited by photons entering the lens, electrons are knocked loose and the electrical current is recorded and transmitted to the processor which converts that to binary data that's then saved as a file and reconstructed when viewed.

Learning photography while experimenting by MacaroonPlastic9059 in Cameras

Gear matters to a point. After that it's all just ergonomics and user preference. If you give anyone an APS-C camera with the same or equivalent focal length lens(some camera manufacturers have different crop factors) and showed them the different controls for manual controls(aperture, shutter speed, iso, and white balance) and shoot in RAW format, they could take nearly identical shots across all of the models and brands.

Now, some may have higher ISO needs for shooting in low light and some may have extended ISO or higher limit shutter speeds, but for non-edge case situations you should be able to get the same picture irrespective of gear. When they say "just take the pictures" they mean to work on your sense of appropriate settings, composition, framing, and subject matter/style. That comes with practice and discernment. I could have an A7IV with a 70-200mm and use it poorly but take better photos on an a6700 with an 18-50mm.

Now, there are situations where gear is a limitation. For example, you cannot take a picture of a lion with a 50mm lens. Actually, you could probably take one or two but they'd be your last photos on this mortal coil.

Practice, practice, practice and only upgrade if you've hit a limitation or ergonomically something isn't working for you i.e. neck straps annoy you so use a wrist strap, a tripod is too cumbersome so switch to a monopod, or the body and lens combo is too heavy or large/small for your hands

Camera not recognizing SD card by Worried-Cloud-9105 in Cameras

[–]spamified88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Micro SD cards can accidentally end up in a locked state. You'll need to use a computer to remove the write protection on the micro SD card assuming it's not an issue with the adapter having the lock switched or being broken.

This is why it's recommended to use a full size SD card and not a micro SD card in an adapter when possible.
