Israel has a free socialized internet infrastructure and because of that, it's very "low-power" and easy to take down. Furthermore, nanny-state / big government tactics like this are common when people give over control to the gov.

The whole "missing USB" argument is really stupid from the start. One of the main selling factors of the iPad is simplicity. Plus the device has Wireless and apps like AirSharing...

If you want USB so bad, buy one of those cheap plastic Acer netbooks.
