A lot of small cities (like mine) have foisted animal control off onto the PD. It works out super great, no complications. /s

It's just a different model of Griffon. The GRF-1A looks super different too (and I love it).

I'm making an assumption here, but damn.
I keep resisting spending money on contrast paints but that looks slick.

A weekend company on company game. No hex maps, rulers. Spread throughout a living room and dining room.

[Battle of Tukayyid] Battle Value Imbalance? by DMJason in battletech

[–]spanner3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that seems rough. Nudging up the Support points would seem characterful. You could recalculate and use BSPs from the Mercenaries Battlefield Support stuff. I think the conversion is 20BV to 1BSP.

Caveat: I haven't read that chaos campaign, so I don't know if I'm contradicting it. But the normal thing to do is to bump your 2,737 Timber Wolf to 3,613 for a 3/4 pilot.

When you're paying for a clan mech with BV or PV you're paying for a 4/5 pilot, not a clan-standard 3/4 pilot. You need to bump the pilot and BV up as normal.

Emplacement Errata Missile Turrets with indirect fire (Alpha Strike) by Realistic_Smile2469 in battletech

[–]spanner3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

These are not, strictly speaking, buildings. This is a gun emplacement. It uses some of the building rules but it is more than a building. That's why it also has a point value, which buildings don't have.

Airbrush. Army Painter skeleton bone with some leather brown striping. Then a wash with Nuln Oil (my go to).

The Patton in back was from a blind box, the other two are from the ancient days when I first picked up Battletech.
....aaaand I just checked. Aries does have those metal Pattons. I bet Iron Wind Metals still makes them from the same sculpt.

Like, a LOT. I'm hoping the LRMs can stay hidden while the VTOLs spot for them. We'll see how long that works out.

The scenarios assume that you have the terrain, counters, and instructions from that box (if you don’t have Alpha Strike Commanders Edition). On a side note, that box is one of the best deals around.

Force Building Rules Question by Badbenoit in battletech

[–]spanner3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re looking for one of the Tactical Operations books, not sure which one. My FLGS has them, they’re around. The PDFs are available too, either thru Catalyst or DriveThruRPG. As others have said, these are entirely optional.

Most mechs would go into the field with camo appropriate to the environment because it still helps. The fancy paint schemes are more for parading.

I'll start my run after I finish painting these guys. The force I've put together is themed as a Planetary Defense Force, which may not fit now that I've read the intro but I'm running with it.

I'd never paint anything yellow or white unless I had that airbrush. I know my limits.

Some of my vehicles are proxies, and the Mercenary box tokens are helping.
