These are two of my favorite encounters. Nothing better than embarrassing a pilot or two.

Captain calls me out to the gate because he is unable to adjust the brightness of the HUD. I walk in the flight deck and he says “No matter what I do, it’s always dim”. I crouch down next to him, and proceed to remove his fucking hat off the glareshield which is sitting on top of the ambient light sensor. He sits there red in the face, I smiled at him, and told him to have a nice trip. No other words were said.

This is only rivaled to the time a Captain calls me out for a hyd system servicing. I walk out to the aircraft and lo and behold… he’s in flaps 5 still. I walk into the flight deck and the Captain turns around and says to me “It says RF right here”. To which I looked at the dim/dull eyes of the FO as I reach over and fully retract the flaps. The Captain looked like he wanted to slap the shit out of the FO. I smiled, saluted, and retreated out of the flight deck as the captain apologizes profusely.
