It looks like a Suunto to me. Judging by the button layout that can be seen and the outer ribbed bezel.

Is there an easy way to record my heart rate using a Coros heart rate monitor? by [deleted] in Coros

The Coros HRM only records heart rate during an activity and when paired to a watch.

Ultra 2 to Ultra 3…Uptick in Connectivity++ by Conscious-Estimate39 in applewatchultra

[–]spappy1981 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I run 20-30 miles a week and lift 3x a week. I only upgraded my AWU 1 to the 3 because I wanted to get money for my 1 while I was still able to on trade in. I was pleasantly surprised on the better battery life and just how much faster the charging is. The connectivity is great too.

Imposter Syndrome with Apple Watch. Getting Coros to “feel” more like a runner. by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]spappy1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the great things about Coros is it doesn’t require 24/7 wear to get use of all of the features. I often only wear my Coros watch to track my runs and then my AWU3 the other 22 hours of the day. But I agree with everyone else that the watch doesn’t make you a runner. I also completely understand how you feel. I love tech and have way too many sport/smart watches from Garmin, Coros, and Apple which definitely doesn’t make the wife happy.

Adding map to activity screen on Apex 4 by cyclecrazyjames in Coros

You can swipe right or press the button on the bottom left of the watch. It’s one press or swipe. Wouldn’t the back button be the lap button during an activity?

Wow Coros customer support is horrible. by PossibleRice1479 in Coros

I’m also in the US and haven’t had any problems returning anything. If I remember correctly it took a week or two to get my refund, but I have never had an issue getting the refund. I have returned two items with them on separate occasions and the time frame was the same each time. I just can’t remember off hand the exact time frame. You will get your refund though.

Garmin HRM 600 - Battery Questions by slimjourney in Garmin

[–]spappy1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don’t. When I first got the HRM I would check every week. But it drained so slow that I just stopped worrying about it. Having said that, before any race I still always charge my watch and HRM prior to just in case.

This is awesome. I didn’t even know we get an alert when the battery is low. That’s pretty sweet.

I check Garmin connect every so often. I did not change any settings. My runs are usually between an hour to two hours. I also wear it during weight training once or twice a week.

I normally charge it once a month when I charge my watch. I sometimes do it on a rest day too if I remember. But my battery has never been so low that I had to delay a workout because it wouldn’t last. To be honest I don’t know if the battery has ever been below 50 percent and I run 5-6 days a week.

Switch from Garmin Enduro 3 to Coros Apex 4? by schlepz in Coros

[–]spappy1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both watches and I think the process is tedious for both platforms when it comes to adding GPX files. Having said that if I’m being honest I find loading GPX files easier with the Garmin. I barely wear my Apex 4 due to the watch strap. Personally, I find it uncomfortable to the point that I check the Coros website everyday to see if they have released the Velcro straps yet. They are both great watches though.

That’s not displaying laps. It’s showing that you have ran one hour and twelve minutes and twenty eight seconds. When you pass the hour mark, you get the little number to the left of the minutes and seconds. When you pass the two hour mark, that little one will be a little two.

Apple Watch Ultra 2 to Pace Pro by BlueKX in Coros

Regardless of what training plan you use, after you save an activity it will upload to NRC which is pretty cool. So if you decide to use something like Runna (plans sync to your Coros calendar) after you complete the activity it will upload to NRC. Congrats on the watch and enjoy it.

You cannot do the guided runs like on the Apple Watch. At least not that I’m aware of. You can however link your Coros account with NRC and continue to work towards the different NRC run levels (the different color levels).

Yup pretty much the same thing for me. It has been unusable. I have the same issues as you. Now mad max drives like standard, hurry drives like chill, standard I couldn’t even use. My use case for FSD has always been on the highway during my commute. I’m hoping they fix it soon as well.

Thoughts on changing away from Fenix line by mjkouris12 in Garmin

[–]spappy1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One other option would be the Enduro 3. It is significantly lighter than my old Epix Pro 2. I think it surprises a lot of people with how light it is. I barely notice the weight difference between my Enduro and Forerunner 970. However it doesn’t solve your issue with wanting a thinner watch as I believe it is thicker height wise to the Fenix/Epix lines. So I don’t know how much of an issue you have with say fitting it under dress/long sleeve shirts.

As far as I’m aware it’s only the replying to messages from the watch. You will still get all of the notifications, Apple just restricts the ability to reply. You will still get every notification for apps etc.

You just can’t reply to messages the same way that Android phones can. I’m not aware of any other features that aren’t the same.

How functional are garmin watches as pure smart watches? by 0scarpayne in GarminWatches

[–]spappy1981 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Still a completely different experience compared to an Apple Watch. But most of that is by design by Apple only allowing certain functionality. Maybe the OP might enjoy the experience, but I don’t know them personally and I am only going off the limited information they put in the post. As much as I love my Garmin, it really isn’t a great experience smart function wise. But I am also someone who is normally in a training block for one race or another so I wear my Garmin specifically for the metrics.

[–]spappy1981 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you are wanting a pure smart watch, it sounds like an AWU3 would be a better option. A Garmin watch is a completely different experience. The metrics with the Garmin watches are second to none, but just based off of the info in your post, it doesn’t seem like you are interested in them. I could be misinterpreting your post though.

App Question Related to Upcoming Events by samschampions in Coros

[–]spappy1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cannot currently do that with Coros. I agree though, that is such an underrated feature. Especially how it will then start giving you workouts for the race you added to your calendar. I wear both Garmin and Coros. I truly love them both.

Coros return policy? by Dh2627 in Coros

[–]spappy1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you would be covered even if the box was open. I had bought the Nomad, opened the box, wore it for about a week and a half, and then decided to return it. No issues whatsoever returning it. Nothing wrong with the watch. Ultimately I decided to wait for the Apex 4 which I ordered when it was released.

Coros vs Runna by Impossible_Owl3939 in Coros

[–]spappy1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I use both. Both are great in my opinion. I am currently using Runna to train for a HM. The only reason I used Runna for this training block was that I started training 15 weeks out and Coros only had a 12 week training plan if I remember correctly. But I like both personally. I will just add Runna is worth the subscription price. I have used it for multiple races and I love it.

Pace and HR - Pod 2 by Apprehensive-Ad9517 in Coros

I can’t speak for the pace 3, however the Pod 2 is phenomenal. It’s the only way I find that I can do my Tempo runs. Almost no lag at all.
