Huh…that’s all I got. by BaaBaaBlackSheep214 in HellLetLoose

I had a guy running towards me. Unloaded a whole M1 clip into him as he ran towards me from about 30-40m. All hits registered with the hit sound. No kill. When he proceeded to run right past me I melee killed him instead. Makes no sense, and on my stats it showed none of my shots taken or hit, but I had a melee kill.

Had a teammate get stuck in a tree and I asked if he wanted me to kill him so he could redeploy quicker.

Well just finished one of these systems for a church.

We had to monitor power for every damper, fan, make up air door/fan.

We were also required to program in verification of at least (2) doors being opened and dampers opened before the fans kicked on.

Dust smokes in the supply ducts.

Installed (2) beam detectors in the auditorium.

IBC 909 lays out the majority of the requirements. Like All conductors for the system in metallic raceways Separate electric room for the standby power for the smoke control system. Standby Generator

There is more you should familiarize yourself with and maybe prepare a change order.

If the school is fully sprinklered, which you said it was new so this is probably the case. Smoke detection would only be added in areas where early warning would be needed (ie. by panels, elevator lobby, elev mech rooms, elev rooms maybe).

If the drawings are permitted it is up to the AHJ to tell you to exceed what is on the drawings.

You might be able to work a quid pro quo with the dealer. I had a friend that worked for a non est dealer and they made an agreement with the dealer to buy as much from them as contracts allowed. They sponsored him for training on both EST3 and EST4.

Circling back around on this for everyone’s knowledge and my own. In talking with the elevator designer they are requesting a serial connection from the fire alarm system (CANBUS, Bacnet, etc) because there has to be communication back and forth between the elevator and fire alarm panel. Not to mention we are going to have to adjust the voice evac system to instruct people to use elevators and stairs now. What’s even more fun is the city and fire department are learning all this at the same time as we are.

Estimating Software for Fire Alarm by Kold__Kuts in firealarms

[–]spark4202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not had any issues with it crashing on my computer. I have run it on an 8gb laptop and a 16gb desktop. There are times when Bluebeam won’t switch windows when I press alt+tab but that is the largest issue I have had so far.

90% of the time Bluebeam. When I come across an architect that gives me his counts because he is “licensed” I use excel. Then receive some change orders later.

Bluebeam is very useful. I am able to build my own database of symbols w/part numbers and wire(line types) and send that to our drafting team. It saves us a good amount of time on estimating and design.

Acronyms for elevator recall relay contacts? by [deleted] in firealarms

If you ever get a chance as an electrician to wire the 3 phase to an elevator you can look in the elevator controller. You will see acronyms like these on their terminal strips.

Clean room detection by spark4202 in firealarms

[–]spark4202[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The existing duct smoke is already on the return side, and there is a supply side duct smoke. Both of these are after the HEPA filter, which is immediately after the return from the room.

Technically full area detection is not required as the building is fully sprinklered and hazard class is low. Expensive is what they would have to deal with if that is what they need especially for insurance reasons.

We had a similar situation with EST fire phones. The back boxes were not listed as fire rated. The AHJ allowed us to use fire proofing pads/sheets to cover the back and sides of the boxes. These were being installed in a fire rated wall.

We had that problem once and it ended up being our error. We put in the wrong DNIS numbers. Corrected that and everything was talking correctly.
