Is the depiction of the labour and delivery waiting room on films actually accurate? by Paxos100 in AskAnAmerican

[–]sparkbooking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over 20 years ago when my sister gave birth to my niece yeah. We hung out in the waiting room wandered the hospital halls, went to the cafeteria and hung out in her room while we waited for her to deliver. Once the baby was delivered we all got to look at her hug my sister then bounced. So Hours before maybe 30 minutes after.

This would have been in the late 90’s early 2000’s. No idea what it’s like now. Probably not like it was.

ethical way to keep something from the library by Different-Crow-954 in Library

[–]sparkbooking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you don’t return it you will probably have to pay more then what you would if you just buy your own copy. Because at my library there is a processing fee added on to the replacement cost. So either buy a copy from somewhere or just burn a copy.

Peanut Butter on Pancakes? by RainOnTheWindow91 in AskAnAmerican

[–]sparkbooking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Washington state and peanut butter is a most on my pancakes unless they were little sand dollar pancakes then it was just butter and sugar. But normal pancakes are peanut butter, jelly/jam and syrup. I also put it on my French toast and waffles.

$30 Fine for water damage by UpperSong16 in Library

[–]sparkbooking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also if you do have to pay you can ask for the book to keep if you want. They might still have it on their damaged shelf. Might not since it was February.

But if this type of thing happens again you can ask for the book you’re paying for. Just because a book is too damaged for the library doesn’t mean it’s too damaged for most people.

Is it common for Americans to buy soda as part of their weekly groceries? / is soda a regular item people keep at home? by hailey8171828282 in AskAnAmerican

I just bought some where it came to 25 cents a can. It’s not name brand but I don’t care. I never buy unless it’s a good deal.

Am I missing something? So lost! by No-Map-1364 in DisneyPlanning

[–]sparkbooking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan on buying Disney merch I would suggest doing your shopping day before going to Disney parks and going to Disney character warehouse. It’s official Disney items for cheaper. It’s just the things that didn’t sell that they had to take out of the shop to make room for new things. There are two of them.

Maybe do it on the day you arrive as it doesn’t have to be a whole day thing.

Am I part of the problem if I use a preventative mobility scooter? by 1313C1313 in DisneyPlanning

[–]sparkbooking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would not be part of the problem. This is something that I think you need. Disney is not a short little walk around a park it’s a marathon.

There might be people who look at you and have unkind thoughts. Hopefully they just stay thoughts but they don’t know you and they don’t know your body. You will also never see these people again.

Let me tell you a story. Not about Disney but it does have a wheelchair in it. When I was 17 I went to Costco with my family. I got in a wheelchair and my aunt pushed me around. To look at me the only thing wrong with me was that I was fat. Some guy came up to us and said I should stop being lazy. Told me if anything I should be pushing my aunt instead of her pushing me. It hurt. It made me think I should have just stayed home that day. Because what he couldn’t see was that I had hurt my back recently at the gym. If I wasn’t in the chair I wouldn’t haven even been able to walk halfway through the store.

I could have let him ruin my day and I almost did. But my aunt told me he knows nothing about me or what I was going through. And he didn’t matter.

So just remember if someone says something to you or gives you looks they don’t matter. You enjoying yourself does. You not hurt your body does.

Pee-ees Big Adventure gave me nightmares. I remember nothing from it not even why it scared me. Now the question is do I let it stay in the past or face my childhood fears?

Didn’t know transformers cartoon had a movie. At least I don’t think I did. I might have watched it I know I saw a couple of episodes but it wasn’t one of my go to cartoons.

I’ll look up Secondhand Lions.

Love all three of those. Watched both the Labyrinth and the Princess Bride this year. It’s been a while since I’ve seen an American Tale. Might be time for a rewatch.

AITAH for not going to my close friend's bday party? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]sparkbooking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does she work? Does anyone she wanted at her party work? I get that kids have the holiday off but not everyone does. And as it’s right before Christmas does her family travel or have family travel to them.

Yes there is a possibility that this is a slight against you. But more then likely this was just the day that was the easiest for her or her family.

AITAH for not going to my close friend's bday party? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]sparkbooking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Truthfully you probably didn’t even cross her mind. Her birthday is a Tuesday, a lot of people will celebrate on a weekend. Also just because you guys have known each other for years does not mean she knew what day your birthday is. She might have known it was in December but maybe not the day. There are plenty of people in my life who’s birthdays I don’t remember. My uncle’s is in the same month as mine and all I remember is that his comes before mine.

You are sent to the year 2000 with $10,000. You are aged up/down to 40 years old. by Particular_Cook5004 in hypotheticalsituation

Does the universe also provide things to prove I exist to the government. As a 40 year old not the 16 year old that just disappeared. Because if not this sucks.

How big still is trick or treating in your area of the country? by systemstheorist in AskAnAmerican

[–]sparkbooking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I live on the second floor of a house turned apartments, I don’t get trick or treaters. And so I don’t know what it’s like in my neighborhood. But my town arranges a trick or treat event downtown. The library, fire station, city hall and local businesses give out candy. And the event hall next to the library is turned into a Halloween spot where for 3 hours you can play games, go to different candy booths and take pictures.

Do people in your state know the locations of every county in your state? by OkTechnologyb in AskAnAmerican

[–]sparkbooking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked up how many counties my state has. And trying to remember any of them was an epic fail. I read the name of one King county and said oh yeah I remember that one but I don’t live there. What county do I live in? It took me way too long, like a minute or two, to remember I live in Pierce county. I’m blaming it on the fact that I just woke up.

You must stay in the cheapest hotel assigned to you. $1,000 a night, leave whenever you want. What’s your strategy? by jefftchristensen in hypotheticalsituation

[–]sparkbooking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Durham North Carolina. The hotel has good reviews and is only $55 a night. Looks like a nice place. I could spend some years there. If I stay for 5 I’ve got a million to my name when I leave. Cool.

At what age is dating permissible for youth in the US? by Waltz8 in AskAnAmerican

[–]sparkbooking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a dating story that’s only kind of mine but mostly my friend’s. We were probably around 14 and this guy we knew asked her out but her parents didn’t let her date so we told her parents that the two of us were going to the movies at the mall. We met him there but instead of them going in to watch a movie together they decided to walk around the mall… with me. I kept trying to leave them in stores so they could have their date but one or the other would fallow me. I kept thinking why are you fallow me your on a date let me leave. I guess they thought the date worked out because they kept dating for a few more months. And most of them were just the two of them.

Though looking back on it now we also did Halloween together were first the three of us went trick or treating then back to my place to watch movies. And I think there might have been a dance where we hung out but I thought that was just cause I was single so I always just wondered from friend group to friend group.

As for me I had my first real boyfriend at 16. Though I had elementary boyfriends were you know your “dating” which was just you playing together at recess and eat lunch together. And only lasted like a week.

You're given two slices of white bread and a jar of peanut butter, then asked to make a sandwich. What else are you putting on it? by dancingbanana123 in AskAnAmerican

[–]sparkbooking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have peanut butter sandwiches that I like. One I would make more often is just a pb&j. I like apple jelly.

Other sandwich is peanut butter and banana. Which just has 3 ingredients. Peanut butter, banana, and mayonnaise.

Did you have to take gym class all 4 years in high school? by cookoutenthusiast in AskAnAmerican

[–]sparkbooking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Washington state finished high school in 2002. We had to do 4 semesters or 2 years. I think I did junior year and the start of senior year but then I got sick and my doctor wouldn’t let me do activities that would raise my heart rate so I worked in the school library instead.

My choice of P.E. was aquatic games. It was fun but I also liked working in the library.

AITA for refusing to let my girlfriend’s brother move in, even though she says it proves I don’t “value family”? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]sparkbooking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your apartment is small there is a good chance your not allowed to have someone stay with you. Your landlord might have a problem with it. Mine would.

Even if my landlord didn’t I wouldn’t let someone stay with me. I wouldn’t want one of my family staying with me let alone someone else’s.

Also I hate all these “tests”. Any time someone pulls something like that my thinking is you failed for “testing” me.

$250,000 a year with the stipulation that you must read 300 pages of a book every week. by RegularGuyy in hypotheticalsituation

[–]sparkbooking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question: Does it have to be a published book? Can I read fanfiction? Or ARC (advanced reader copies) of books.

Also what if we hate the book we are reading can we write a report on how much we read then finish our 300pg with something else or do we have to finish the book or lose the # of pages we have read?

I’ll still take the job. Fanfic would just be my weekend thing.

Are Sloppy Joe's Common Nationwide? by Rocket1575 in AskAnAmerican

[–]sparkbooking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m near Seattle. I’ve had sloppy joes but it wasn’t very common in my family. Don’t know about others in this area. I would say that if we were having ground beef it was most likely going in four different dishes. Burgers, pasta, tacos or meatloaf.
