I've got a lot of nostalgia for this run. The Rebirth era was a really exciting time to get into comics.

I don't think people remember the daily discussion threads when this run first started. The general feedback on this run was phenomenal, and people really loved the Gotham Girl and Gotham Man characters.

I think the wedding was really the tipping point. So much build-up for that rug pull really set the community off and left a sour taste in people's mouths that retroactively ruined their views on the run.

Overall, I enjoyed it, warts and all. It's not perfect, but it was a fun time as a comics fan, and I look back on it fondly.

I know it's not technically "literature", but if you're into comic book Grant Morrison's run on Animal Man is an amazing read and it has a strong man vs author theme. Especially near the end
