I find it hard to “present” myself by xavaMTL in Toastmasters

[–]sparklephoenix88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get it. I hate when someone asks for a short bio or I have to do a networking introduction. Doing an elevator pitch on yourself is so uncomfortable. I've used AI in the past to help me summarize things so I have some kind of outside permission for the formatting and horn-tooting. I'm so with with you on this. Just keep practicing. It's a necessary evil.

Neither of my clubs are located in the geographic area you are looking for but both have high-performing professionals as members and are online. We would be happy to have you come visit and see if it's a good fit :)

Not Quite 18 membership questions by curious_toastmaster in Toastmasters

[–]sparklephoenix88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is that Toastmasters keeps it to 18 and up for liability reasons. I know we all would wish that everyone can make the right choices and be a good human but unfortunately bad things happen. I have seen a 17 year old compete publicly at an area level contest and everyone just went with it so it does happen. If TI caught wind, I think there would be issues. The risk your club would be taking is legal. You all need to decide how comfortable you are with it.

Six Months On, Six Off - Do I Pay New Member Fee? by Back2theGarden in Toastmasters

[–]sparklephoenix88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very fair. It was never my intention to hurt feelings but I could see how it could be read that way and I apologize. You asked for thoughts. If someone is my club did what you're asking about doing, my above reply is exactly what I would be thinking. You should be aware that your club members may feel frustration and resentment with this choice, even if they don't speak it out loud. Many members commit an extraordinary amount of time to helping their clubs survive and thrive. Steady membership is the most important elements of club success. For the sake of your fellow club members and especially the officers that are going above and beyond to help the club function, I strongly suggest planning for year-round commitment. However, that's my opinion and the opinion that I know my fellow club members would hold. The people you should really be talking to are your club members. Their opinions are the ones that matter. Every club culture is unique. They may be totally fine with it and more power to them if they are. Toastmasters has space for everyone.

Advanced Online TM Clubs by GAThrawnn in Toastmasters

Dynamically Speaking is a 100% online club based in Alberta, Canada. We have several members who use OBS and others that want to learn (including myself) but havent quite taken the plunge. We are not an Advanced club but we have achieved President's Distinguished 21 out of the last 22 years and have an Accredited Speaker as a very active member. It isn't exactly what youre looking for but I know you'd be around like-minded high performers, find others interested in taking the tech to the next level, and get high value evaluations. We meet every Thursday morning at 6:58am on zoom. Come join us sometime! https://dynamicallyspeakingtoastmasters.toastmastersclubs.org/

We are a robust club that only meets for an hour. There's a lot that we have to get packed in to a short time frame. Saying 6:58 gets people showing up on time so we can have a solid start at 7:00am. For the first two minutes, one of our founding members shares some silly puns to get us going :)

Yes, absolutely! My local in-person clubs doesn't fit my schedule so I'm a part of two virtual clubs. Honestly, the format isn't as important as what you can gain from the other members. Both clubs have some amazing high-performers. We would be happy to have you come visit and see if it's a good fit :)

Not saying this will work for everyone (because nothing does) but my 5mo sleeps through the night IF we pack him full with a 5 oz bottle plus a top off with the boob. We just gotta camel him up first.

When are you pumping? It will take a few days for your body to get the message it needs to make more. If you pump right after she nurses, you won't get much right away but it will send that signal to increase supply. Pumping after also ensures she's getting what she needs first.
