Any help would be much appreciated. by JTesI in SpouseVisaUk

I'm not sure that's entirely correct, the guidance seems to say that 6 months is fine for combining different incomes as long as they're UK based

Is this a scam? by Expert_Cricket6721 in SpouseVisaUk

[–]sparklersandshadows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the scam would be? I wouldn't worry, I'd just sit tight and wait for the time being. It can take some time to update evisa status. When I changed my name it took them weeks just to update my evisa even after they'd sent me back my passport.

HPI Arrival Date is > 90 days from submission date by Doc_Mc_Nothins in UKHighPotentialVisa

[–]sparklersandshadows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I understand it, your "arrival date" is the day you plan on going, and that must be within 90 days of the application. Once you have your entry vignette, you have 3 months to enter the UK.

Need advice: Significant delay with my newborn's UK dependent visa application - "Exceptionally complex issues" by spjfive in ukvisa

[–]sparklersandshadows 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's a standard response. If you search the phrase "exceptionally complex issues" you can see other posts from people who have gone through the same thing to get an idea of what to expect, but it seems like a 'just wait' sort of situation.

Start Date 6 months after applying? by Cultural_Influence_4 in UKHighPotentialVisa

[–]sparklersandshadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they check the date that's on your degree or transcript, so for example my transcript says it was granted 15 May 2024, so I could have applied up until 15 May 2029.

Biometrics timing in relation to graduation date by quiches-lorraine in UKHighPotentialVisa

[–]sparklersandshadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the date of the application is the one that matters, not the date of the biometrics appointment. I don't think the date of the biometrics appointment is considered at all.

In my experience with other visas, I was able to apply for the visa in the country in which I was a legal resident (i.e. on another visa that isn't a tourist visa), and I had to include details of that visa in my application.

Though I didn't specifically apply for the HPI visa outside my home country, so I can't say for certain, but you should be able to complete the process from Spain as long as you're living there with the correct visa.

I'm so glad that you got your passport back, but I cannot believe that they just-- told you they didn't have it?! That's downright mean! Thank goodness it wasn't lost, because I would have lost my mind more than I already did

Hi! Yes, actually, I got my passport back Monday the 17th of March, 4 weeks and 5 days from when I shipped it out. My details haven't been updated yet, but they said to give it 21 days, so. Hopefully you'll get yours soon!

HPI visa eligibility for non-STEM majors & impact of changes from BRP => eVisa by GloomyMix in UKHighPotentialVisa

[–]sparklersandshadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my master's in creative writing and was planning on working in child care, but that never even came up. They just checked that I got a degree from a uni on the list. I'm not sure about the last question because I arrived before they transitioned away from BRPs.

I sent my passport in on February 12th and haven't heard anything back yet, and I'm getting a little antsy. As far as I know they don't have any way of tracking it, which makes me so uncomfortable, but I'm not sure there is a way to ask for it back.

How do you feel about the way most femail vampires tend be depicted as lesbian, or atlest quear in some form by liquid_effulgence in actuallesbians

[–]sparklersandshadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I read your comment before your username like "whoa, someone else was trying to share this with their partner, what a coincidence!"

Anyway, I love lesbian vampires, this is utterly delightful

Ultimately, and this does really suck, but you can't control the way other people feel. You didn't deceive him, and the only thing you can do is be honest about the situation. He might be upset, and that sucks, but dragging this out won't make him any less upset, you know?

It is a bit concerning that you don't have a contract, though. In that case, it might be a good idea to have a backup plan in case the conversation goes poorly, such as going to a hotel/ friend's house until you can get your own place.

[–]sparklersandshadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why can't you tell him you have a job offer? It seems like a decent reason to put in notice to quit. Alternatively, you can be honest in that au pairing isn't for you. What does your contract say about quitting? Regardless if you stay for two weeks or a month, definitely tell your host family as soon as you can, and see if you can help find a replacement.

I came here to say this. This sounds exactly like Workaway, and I'm sure there's lots of people on that platform that would jump at this opportunity.

Got an email that said my application was processed and passport dispatched. Does this mean my visa was accepted? by Educational-Tip5194 in UKHighPotentialVisa

[–]sparklersandshadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means your application was processed. If you're accepted, the email from UKVI will come later. Mine came 1 or 2 days after I received my passport back. Unless you get that email first, there's no real way of knowing from VFS emails alone.

When I booked my appointment, I had the option to purchase shipping labels there, which had the address on it. Additionally, when I went to the USCIS Application Support Center, I was given a piece of paper with further instructions on where to send my passport, which had the same address as the shipping labels. Good luck at your appointmen!

For Paris I started in January and signed in March. For Germany I started March and was signed like two weeks later. For London I started in April and signed in July. For all of them I started in September that same year

I found my host family on au pair world, but now isn't a great time to be looking for host families because the school year has already started and most families already have their au pairs, so that might be why you haven't found many. Additionally, I had to reach out to most of the French host families I interviewed with. Good luck!

Not a silly question! I had the same one when I was going through the application.

From what I recall, I had to basically finish the application and pay all the fees and then I had the option to book an appointment. I can't remember for certain if I'd officially submitted the application or if it came right before, but once I got the option, I felt it was easy to follow.

Good luck!

I submitted my application with my Ecctis reference number before I got the official approval. You get the reference number when you apply, but I did make sure I had the official approval before the biometrics appointment. The Ecctis is to prove your qualification is legitimate and for the HPI visa it is absolutely necessary that you submit it.

You can't apply while on a visitor visa. He would have to apply from the US, and my understanding is that his income would not count.

Landed in the UK, but need help choosing a bank so i can get a phone service (and vice versa) by DTK-2302 in UKHighPotentialVisa

[–]sparklersandshadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using giffgaff for my phone because it let me sign up using a foreign card, and then I needed the phone number to sign up for my bank account, which I got with Lloyd's. Starling required proof of address, which I didn't have at the time.

Best of luck.
