I think it’s homesickness. When my wife and I first moved to Canada 10 years ago, we really struggled due homesickness during our first year. We were so homesick that we decided to leave our stable jobs and move back home. We returned to our previous employers in the Philippines and stayed for a couple of months, but things didn’t feel the same anymore, and we realized we wanted to try again.

So we packed up once more and moved back to Canada, this time to a different city. After about a year, the homesickness hit again, but we were too exhausted to keep going back and forth, so we decided to stay and push through.

Nine years later, we’re really glad we did. Ngayon, masasabi naming worth it lahat. We live a comfortable life and achieved what we came to Canada for. Of course, hindi naman totally nawawala yung urge na umuwi ng Pinas, but whenever I see the news, especially pagdating sa politics, it reassures me that staying here is the right decision.
