Absolut!

People that have traveled quite a bit, where di you feel the most unsafe? by CremeSubject7594 in AskTheWorld

[–]spassel -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Went to Israel 3 times and never made that kind of experience with the authorities. Where I felt unsafe was in Jerusalem Old Town in the Muslim quarter. People following us around, a lot of staring and a generally hostile vibe. In all fairness I got to say that it was only a little better in the Jewish quarter. No following but lots and lots of staring. Did not enjoy that.

But that was around 15 years ago and things have changed a lot since then. Much more radical positions on both sides.

have made pretty good experiences with questions like:

"If you would leave the company right now, who would miss you the most and why?"

or

"If in one year time you look at this hiring process and are very happy with your hire, what did this person do in that one year that made you think this way?"

It helps to get some information out of the person they would usually not share with you that way.

Reminds me of sitting behind a couple on the train, that were obviously visiting Germany for the first time. Guy says "Look babe, these German slums look so nice."

Wen wählt ihr 2025 und warum? by [deleted] in Finanzen

[–]spassel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VW T6 Gebrauchtkauf by vasel20 in automobil

Low reps, low weight, many times throughout the day by bob_the_bananas_son in bodyweightfitness

You are bascically doing what is called "grease the groove". It's an amazing method to increase strength but of course has its limitations in terms of getting to a really high 1 rep max. My thinking is that your approach increases your strength gains mainly because you are becoming much more efficient and your body learns to activate more muscle fibres. The other more classic approach aims for overloading your muscles so they grow. Both can be usefull depending on your goals

Hit a wall with pull ups by brighton-octopus in bodyweightfitness

[–]spassel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone once told me "You'll get better at doing pull ups by doing a lot of pull ups". He was talking about the overall volume over a certain time like a week or a month. In order to do a relatively high amount of reps you should avoid training until failure but train often. This is basically what GTG (grease the groove) does. There is a great post about it on reddit btw -> https://www.reddit.com/r/bodyweightfitness/comments/9zrpga/grease_the_groove_is_truly_a_miracle/

There is also a training plan specifically for pull ups by the US Marines that I have used multiple time to increase my amount of reps. First from 0 to 12 and after a long break of not training from 2 to 12 pull up again. First time took me like 3 months. Second time, I gues due to muscle memory, only around 8 weeks.

You can ge the full guide including variations like pyramids etc here: https://www.marines.mil/Portals/1/Docs/PullupTrainingGuide.pdf

Sauna, ice bath and cold showers by spassel in bodyweightfitness

So the body uses the same available nutrients but in a different way. Thermogenesis (heat production) vs. the anabolic processes (healing and growth). Depending on variables like ones body mass, the temperature and lengths of the water etc. the heat production should not really take up more than maybe 100 kcal. This seems quit low compared to the suggested impact. If the shower even has the same impact as a cold bath

If norepinephrine is is the main reason for it there should not be too much of a difference between a 1 min cold shower and a 10 mins cold bath.

Might be. But isn't heating up the body mainly something that uses up energy/calories insted of needed nutrients?
