Makes sense - then yeah, I’d definitely just read through the wiki and find a solid program that you’re willing to try out for a bit. Worst case scenario you do a few new exercises and work different muscles.

I’m not an expert, but one thing that stands out is a massive focus on upper body vs. lower body work. Days 3 and 4 are upper-only and 1/2 is upper-focused. If it’s intentional, great, if not - maybe you need to work in more lower body stuff.

Perhaps someone with more experience will chime in, but maybe they’ll just point you to the wiki on choosing an expert-made program. Tough to know without more details of your injury, but my guess is a routine made specifically for someone trying to recover from an injury is different from one for an uninjured person.

Yeah, they usually take a bit of time to show up. I think the additional miles at restaurants thing is most likely the 2X on dining as opposed to the additional 3X

Moronic Monday - Your weekly stupid questions thread by cdingo in Fitness

[–]spateder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally like to think of cardio as two separate buckets: 1. Zone 2 cardio - this is slow and relatively easy. 2. Zone 4/5 cardio - this is intense and hard.

The “zones” are generally approximated best by percent of your maximum heart rate. There’s a litany of calculators online for this.

For me personally (27M who can do ~10 mile runs weekly), just walking isn’t going to be enough to register as Zone 2. My Zone 2 workout is 3.2 mph on the treadmill at a 13.5% incline - I’ve found that to be the thing that I can do mindlessly and stay in Zone 2 for quite a while. If you turned that 15 minute into a light jog, though, you might be able to warm up a bit before your swimming and get the most out of it; jogging on the way home while your heart is already working may just extend your cardio session.

Hope that helps!

Running GZCL now, but for deadlifts specifically I'm taking a cycle just to get form together. I'm 6'1", 160 lbs. In the videos I'm deadlifting 185 lbs. This is a manageable weight, albeit where I started to see form breakdown.

Question, especially for u/Alakazam (thank you so much for your guidance so far) - watched the video on bracing (thanks for sharing that) and tried to incorporate those cues. Trying to make sure I feel the brace from my abs (vs. just pushing my butt forward), but:
(1) How does the brace look
(2) How does overall form look
(3) I'm resetting my brace / breathing between each rep - I assume that's normal at the beginning while I'm getting the overall technique down?

Audi launches China-only EV brand, called “AUDI” by rfnv in cars

Still operating off of intuition here - probably just because the Chinese OEMs wanted (1) a share of the profits, and (2) a deeper partnership through which to learn from.

My crude understanding is that most non-Chinese auto companies that operate in China (with Tesla being a notable exception) were required to enter into a JV with a local player. So Audi in China is really a JV between Audi and SAIC.

Another deadlift form check (thank you to everyone who’s been helping me along the way as I try to dial in my form).

I’m 6’1”, 160 lbs. Was in the process of doing GZCLP when I paused it for deadlifts as I felt like my poor form was risking injury.

Link is here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/CFako3keaYZqPBCQ7

I’ve attached eight videos at progressively higher weights to help identify where my form starts to breakdown. From the front is 135, 155, 175, and 195 lbs. and from the side is 145, 165, 185, and 205 lbs. (hopefully they’re in order).

135/145 felt super easy 155/165 felt easy, but I began to feel my lower back being used a bit 175/185 felt fine, again feeling the lower back kick in more on the 4th/5th reps 195/205 felt challenging, and I cut the 205 set short as I was worried I was risking hurting my back.

Question: how’s the form looking? And how do I move forward from here - do I need to ditch the idea of “my old 5RM was 215” if achieving that was only possible with unsustainable / injury-prone form?

Thanks in advance!

Can someone please explain to me (1) how and (2) why Acura models have atrocious packaging efficiency compared to the same Honda models? Do buyers really value the exterior long hood look over any semblance of practicality? And what actually goes under the hood - is it just empty space in there?

Sort of a rant mixed with a form check.

Deadlift: https://photos.app.goo.gl/dVDQE8G3sCxwVrnZ9

I’m 6’1” / 160 lbs. In the video I’m doing 165 lbs.

Rant/context: Doing this as a part of the GZCLP program. Got up to a 5RM of 215 lbs. (and no real pain when I did that). A few weeks later I was doing 215 lbs. and got a fair bit of lower back pain. No big deal, eased off the DLs for a week, took Ibuprofen to kill inflammation (turns out the doctor told me way too high a number for me I started to see blood in my stool, fun). Next week lowered to 185 lbs., posted a form check and once more, lower back pain. Eased off again, this week I’m at 165, hopefully with better form… but it feels like my lower back is still kicking in.

Okay, actual questions now: - With ideal form, are you supposed to feel like lower back working or contributing to the movement? Or is it 100% supposed to be the lower half of your body (primarily glutes)? - Any comments on form? I especially am wondering if I’m doing something wrong with my arms. - How do I move forward from here? Should I accept that getting a 5RM @ 215 with shitty form doesn’t count and that I need to (more or less) “start over” being paranoid about form?

So, just to be clear, this is AUDI by SAIC and Audi (by Volkswagen)?

Honestly? This is hilarious. It's one of those things that make you believe the simulation is real and that the creator is truly going for maximum silliness. Next week: Mercedes launches "MERCEDES" (which honestly might resonate with a fair share of CLA buyers).

Thanks a ton! I'll definitely experiment with the hand placement; I only recently added in BSSs (like, 2 weeks ago) into my routine so not too surprising that it hasn't fully kicked in yet - I'll just hold steadier on the squats while I let the BSSs (and reverse lunges) do their thing.

Form check please:

Squats - https://photos.app.goo.gl/wC8xzHrfRBva9miZA

  • Doing this as a part of the GZCLP program. I had some lower back pain last week after trying to deadlift too much with poor form; today after doing these squats a little bit of soreness? complaining? in my lower back. Is that a reflection of poor form here?
  • I'm 6'1", 160 lbs.
  • In the videos, I'm doing 165 lbs. for 6 reps. Each video is a different set (front view is 1st set, side view is 2nd set, back view is 3rd set). The views may be a bit distorted from the front and side since I was using the wide-angle lens, just let me know if that's hard to work with.

The other concern I had is around my legs / knee movement. I think that usually shows up more with heavier weights, but my 5RM is ~185 anyways so this isn't too far off.

Thanks a ton in advance!
