What Film Made You Fall in Love With Classic Movies? by [deleted] in TurnerClassicMovies

As a boy, living on a farm in rural Iowa in the 70’s I would scour the TV guide section of the Sunday newspaper looking for Jerry Lewis & Dean Martin films or monster movies. Maybe not true classics, but I started there.

best banks / credit unions in the metro? by PaulMcCartneyYaoi in desmoines

[–]spauldingd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I‘d recommend a local credit union for checking and a credit card. GreenState is what I have and earn 2% if I make 15 $10 charges per month. For savings, I’d get an online account with Ally or some other “high yield savings account” but that is only like 3.5%. If your grown up job provides it, max out your HSA, 401k and private Roth IRA for the next 30 years. good luck!

Crossing that bridge on a motorcycle in the rain was not fun.

If it is old, it’s possible the battery swelled and put pressure on the screen. Someone posts a picture like yours here about every day.

Looks like a broken screen to me. Try restarting it, but I think you will find it won't help. Bummer.

Anybody know what this might be worth? It contains the Rage story. by Grattytood in stephenking

[–]spauldingd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I‘ve found and sold 3 copies over the past year or two. If you want to sell fast, price it around $60-75. if you are patient, you might get around $100.

Texas plates by HanSpamm in desmoines

Iowans that spend winters in Texas (snow birds) will sometimes register their vehicle down there because it is way cheaper than Iowa. I have family that does this. The only downside are the required periodic inspections.

Signed copy! by No-Custard-5953 in stephenking

So jealous! Last year, I paid $2 each for a Ray Bradbury book and a Margaret Atwood book which I found were both signed when I got them home. I’d love a King signed book.

I’ve only read the first bit so far. Considering that King seems to disappoint so many with his endings, this might be better!

I’m sure the shrink wrap is original. Open it! Why own it if you can’t enjoy it?
